So here it is, the dawn of April is upon us and noting yet. I am glad we have options, and have actually paid seat deposits at other schools, but USNA, is first choice. My DS is as chill as can be and does not mind waiting until his envelope, be it fat or thin, comes in the mail. Me, on the other hand, would like to know what is going on? So my real questions is what is really going on in these waning days of the process? Do TWE's get sent in mass, how many appointments are outstanding, what deadlines are we up against? I am sure I can go on, but what can my DS (OK, really me) expect in the next few weeks?

If you really wanted to know, you would have already scoured the last 50-60 pages of the USNA forum. :)

From the last few years, typically a midweek day not too long before the 15th, you'll see lots of threads and action regarding TWEs and/or waitlist decisions.

The 15 is a soft self-imposed deadline. USNA knows they run the risk of losing applicants who have to accept/decline other schools before May.

Thank you. That is a bit more clear. I may grab a drink or 2 anyway.

So just for clarity, USNA has until April 15 to give answers to all applicants? Come, Stay or Wait?
April 15 is an aspirational goal they have set to inform most applicants of their status - appointment, no appointment, NAPS or Foundation prep scholarship offer, possibly waitlist, or a bit more limbo. Some may receive an LOA, even if fully qualified and nothing pending, to let them know an appointment is indeed coming. Some who are still in unresolved medical/waiver status may receive a conditional LOA or appointment.

@Pack Dad 1, head on over to the cocktail thread. Or the bacon thread.

Sadly, there is no 100% answer to your questions. A large batch of TWEs is looming. A much smaller batch of BFEs is pending. It's out of your hands 100%.

After work today, I'll raise a glass in your honor and to all of those parents who are going through the angst that is inherent in this process.

Wait. We weren't supposed to start drinking already!!?!? 🤬 Guess I messed that up.

Drink up me hearty, yo ho! Nothing else to be done about it for now, so bottoms up!
The sun is over the yardarm 24/7/365 at SAF.

Per The Oxford Companion to Ships and the Sea:
A traditional nautical saying to indicate that it is time for a morning drink. It was generally assumed in northern latitudes the sun would show above the foreyard of a ship by 1100, which was about the time in many ships of the forenoon ‘stand-easy’, when many officers would slip below for their first drink of the day.

So my real questions is what is really going on in these waning days of the process? Do TWE's get sent in mass, how many appointments are outstanding, what deadlines are we up against?
Yes, there will be mass mailing of TWE's - it happens every year. No one knows the number of Appointments outstanding, and its a largely irrelevant issue -- if you MOC slates have been completed and the neighboring state hasn't.

So just for clarity, USNA has until April 15 to give answers to all applicants? Come, Stay or Wait?
As noted, April 15 is an aspirational goal ...USNA wants to let people know as soon as possible and is fully aware that deadlines for accepting Plan B etc. is coming quickly. That said, USNA doesn't have to, and may not have, all appointments filled by April 15.. There are alot of moving pieces and sometimes one piece has to be in place before the next move can be made.

Well … when you drink, you see things all crooked and blurry’d … that’s why I don’t drink.
.

Does the portal update first to say “turned down” so if you check that every day, you’ll see that first, before receiving the TWE?

Have an untouched bottle of Knob Creek 9at the house that is awaiting any kind of envelope. Either way proactive inquiry will be assisted with that bottle….and resolution achieved.

Drank earlier, drinking later….we got out of dodge for a few days while we wait. DD is in CO checking out a possible plan B. :)

If you're looking for a distraction, I know a place just outside the navy base in Rota, Spain where they have the best garlic rotisserie chicken, super-smooth cerveza, and in 1988 you could get your picture taken with a monkey in a Pink Panther outfit for $10. Back then it even came with a free Med cruise on a Marine amphibious assault ship... ⚓

I met a client for breakfast on St Paddy’s day. Coffee and juice with breakfast for me. He had a budweiser.

Under no circumstances does beer go with breakfast. Disgusting.
Kegs and eggs are a special treat on appropriate occasions, but I wouldn’t clean my toilet with Budweiser.

Fortunately, we are currently distracted with senior prom. Between two, my last of 4 high school jr/sr. proms - the longest night of the year, but the pictures make it worth it. Cheers!

I could make an argument for huevos rancheros in Mexico near a beach with a really good red beer with lime and salt on the rim. Yum. Dang, I need a road trip.
