I mailed in my Immunization form to West Point a couple months ago, and they contacted me saying that I also need to get an adult polio booster because I'm 18.

However, my doctor doesn't have adult polio vaccines, nor do the surrounding clinics. What should I do?

Just a mom here-no particular expertise- but a couple of ideas for you to try

-county health department
-traveler's health clinic

Good luck!

adult polio

DS pediatrician also did not have adult polio and would not get it in for DS. Took him yesterday to county health district where they provide free immunizations to those without insurance and they provided shot for my son. Also, billed our insurance. No problems today!

The county health department did not have the vaccine.

I ended up going to a hospital's occupational health center and paying $50 for the vaccination.

Thanks!

Adult Polio vaccine

Some areas of the country do not have this vaccine readily available. Don't worry, they won't turn you away. You will get the vaccine on R Day! Fun, fun, fun!

Just a piece of advice: bring a copy of immunization record with you in your wallet on Rday...if the form you sent in "disappears," you will get stuck again...doesn't happen often, but it can happen.

The "adult polio booster" is the same one given to kids. That's what I got. Take the shot, not the oral dose.
