Immunization question

good luck to you chewy

how is it you were never vaccinated if your father is a doctor?
Your mother protected you? You have much to be grateful for.
I hope it will be worth it and that you have built a strong enough system after no vaccination, antibiotics and other drugs.

Just had your best health in mind.

It isn't about lying about your religion - it is about a deeply held belief but I see you don't have that, so yes, it would be lying for you.

Hope your dream is worth it.

I guess when people are enamored with war, they aren't going to be too logical or open minded for something like this. But believe me, once injured they are. I personally know through emails & phone calls, large numbers of vaccine-injured from the military including my husband (before I met him). He just wishes he knew before it happened. Nothing is worth what happened to him.

I am actually one person who was responsible for finding Mark Zaid to represent young sailors in the gulf in the early 90's who were the first anthrax vaccine refusers after so many were becoming injured. But the US is intent upon continuing to enlist cannon fodder.

How very very sad. I guess not being vaccinated did not mean you were a kind and caring and thankful person for someone trying to help you.

I'm glad I bothered, though - because someone may have heard

Sheri Nakken, RN, MA

I understand the rationale behind your decision, but my father is the one who opted to not get me vaccinated. He is a doctor of chiropractic and practices preventative medicine. I am not and never will be enamored with war, war is a terrible terrible necessary evil. I am however enamored with the idea that the protection of the institutions of the greatest force for good the world has ever seen, i.e. the United States of America, are worth defending, with my life if necessary. I am planning on having my father explain the situation to West Point, I will tell them I am against being vaccinated. HOWEVER, I will not jeopardize my dream or my integrity as a future officer and a gentleman to achieve these goals. The logic that the ends justify the means does not cut it at this institution. I understand where you are coming from maa'm, but unfortunately i fear you do not understand where I am coming from. I do care and your input was duly noted. But ask any one of these parents of the young adults applying for these academies and you would understand how much this appointment means to me. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, to get the same education as many of the military geniuses of the word have received. Words cannot describe how hard many people just like me have worked just for the chance to become a prospective candidate. Believe me , its worth it......... 150%

chewyoatmeal - actually 4 months is not enough time but you will finish your vaccinations at West Point. Hopefully if you are under 18 your parents will allow your vaccinations.

you might want to make contact with fencersmother on this forum. IRRC her sons are at AFA and they had never been vaccinated until they got their appointments.

I hesitate to reply as I'd like to see this post closed as I think its accomplished what Chewy needed but also provided someone a forum for their own agenda. Just remember at night when you are dreaming, this "cannon fodder" is protecting you and allowing you to freely state your opinion. These fine young men and women do not dream of war but rather dream of serving the greatest country in the world. A country not without flaws, so lets not go there. While 99.9% of these service men and women probably disagree with your opinion, they would protect your right to state it and even sacrifice their life for it.

...represent young sailors in the gulf in the early 90's who were the first anthrax vaccine refusers after so many were becoming injured.

Again, post hoc ergo propter hoc. A logical fallacy.

The form of the post hoc fallacy can be expressed as follows:

A occurred, then B occurred. Therefore, A caused B.

When B is undesirable, this pattern is often extended in reverse: Avoiding A will prevent B.

"Ten serial killers brushed their teeth the morning of their crimes, therefore tooth brushes cause serial killings. Avoiding tooth brushes will stop serial killings."

This is quite a fiery, emotional debate! For what it is worth, I will add a comment on the value of vaccines. I could speak to the damages of the side effects of contracting mumps and measles but wish to focus on your statement that polio was due to toxic exposure and not contagious. I'm a generation older than most of the parents participating in this debate and remember what it was like pre-polio vaccine and the polio epidemic of the '50s. This is an anticdotal story and I am not doing medical research in my kitchen so please take it as it is intended.

I saw my school chums suffer with the crippling effects of polio, three of my sister's pre-school boys fight the high fever and how one nephew required many surgeries to give him the ability to walk. Fifty-plus years later I remember the terrible headache and stiffness about my neck and shoulders that I experienced. There was no toxic exposure involved. We all lived on farms in the heartland with pure air and water and our food was grown organically. It spread to/from adults and children in families like mine. Polio cut through and changed lives beyond imagination or description in this brief message. It was stopped in its tracks by the vaccine and my children and their generation did not have the peril of polio hanging over them.

You know, sometimes we have to step back to assess the value of the actions of the individual vs. the greater good of the group. Sometimes you just have to roll the dice, too, and brave yourself in the hopes of a greater good. Isn't that part of the leadership paradigm?

I've read your other posts; and quite frankly, I like you, Chewy. You are willing to roll up your sleeves (i.e., literally in this situation) to do what is required. I'd feel good if you were by my boy's side in a difficult situation. I know that between the two of you, a good decision would be made.

Excellent post, Grannie!

Those who make choices NOT to immunize are fortunate that the rest of us DO immunize...exposure to our immunized kids keeps their non-immunized kids from getting sick. Visit a third world country without those vaccines and you may well bring back something deadly to share with the other non-immunized citizenry. Whenever I questioned whether my child should receive a new vaccine, my question to the doctor (MD) was always, "did you get your kid this shot?" If it was good for his, it was good for mine.

R day is a lot of stress...it is so much better if you don't spend the first few days sore from injections and sick from mild reactions. Get started on the vaccines now!

no that is not my website

sounds like you and the others just have opinions not based in any fact or research. Good luck to you. Until you delve into this you cannot see.........so more and more will be injured. Most of the disease outbreaks are in vaccinated - for example the mumps outbreak in NY. And if you choose to believe the propaganda on measles and mumps diseases, so be it.

Good luck to you all

but I doubt anyone will read this or have gotten this far because your minds are made up based on NO information other than propaganda to sell vaccines and drugs.

Some people have been able to think outside the box and investigated and exposed things for what they are...........others are happy in their little boxes, even if injured, or its the injury that wakes them up.

Irony.

Its as if you're speaking about yourself.

The "Sacrifice the few to save the many." ploy is the same as "The end justifies the means". The "reality" is that saving the few to save the many is fine...unless you're part of the few.

This concept is part of something called "utilitarianism" - Hardly an Amercian/republic/democracy ideal..........
http://www.elliotcross.com/essays/mill1.html
There is also the feature of Utilitarianism which many find the most unjustifiable - it seems to inevitably lead to sacrificing the few for the many. For example, while in the long term it might be better to have allowed Hitler to say his piece, what of all the people who died because of him? Is it right to sacrifice those people for 'the greater good'? Is it right to allow racist hate speech to be publicly uttered, even if it eventually leads to the ideas being discredited, if in the meantime people die from hate crimes?

This is certainly something you have to believe to serve in the military.
And I don't buy the US is the greatest country on the earth and I don't buy that you are protecting me over there in Afghanistan and Iraq and everywhere else.

And oh that 3rd world argument.....based on propaganda by those complicit with the drug companies. Children are sick there in many cases due to contaminated water, lack of quality food, pesticide use, parasites due to their exploitation by US and other 1st world countries. They need quality food and water and the exploitation to stop not further injury and toxic exposure with vaccines.

We have traded minor acute illness for a life of chronic illness
1 in 67 children with autism for example; high numbers of asthma and other chronic illness in children never seen before.

I'm sorry that so many of you have drunk the kool-aid (think Jonestown)

and poliomyelitis had already declined BEFORE the vaccine came out and then deaths even went up with the first polio vaccine - The Cutter Incident.
Lots of manipulation of what could be called polio went on after the vaccine. What is labeled as polio, became much more restricted after the vaccine, which caused numbers to decrease then and there.

See the DDT info if you really would like to show you are a free thinker

Grannie - all that you describe is also seen in DDT poisoning.

I guess when people are enamored with war, they aren't going to be too logical or open minded for something like this.

I am deeply offended by this comment. My son, and others like him, are not "enamored with war". If you would do as much research about the service academies as you have about vaccines then you would understand this.

You have a right to your opinion and to state it freely. Just don't forget it is our military that has defended that right for all of us.

"Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American Military Member. One died for your soul; the other for your freedoms."

oh dear chewy

Chewy - lots of things seem important when you are young and healthy and it is wonderful that you had a chiropractic doctor who cared so much for you to give you such a good start. But it is up to you now to continue on.

"future officer and a gentleman" - oh dear Chewy - you are living in a dream/movie.....................life is not like that..............may you be protected by an immune system that has had a good start by the loving consideration of your father who knows more than you about this.

How is it worth it if you are paralyzed or have intractable pain for the rest of your life so you can't even finish, or cancer, or multiple sclerosis, or infertility, or ALS. My husband went to Vietnam thinking he was doing the same as you think and discovered a few days into his deployment how wrong he was to have glorified this in his head. He has suffered for nearly 40 years now from that decision. Not about our freedom at all either.

Just google on
vaccine injured military anthrax stories
(and that isn't the only vaccine that injures but the one that has gotten the most attention). If you would like names of actual people very injured by the vaccines, let me know and you can have a chat with them and see what they think, after-the-fact

Someday you will realize and hopefully not after you are injured.

It is funny because one of the navy men who I worked with on the anthrax vax issue in 1998 had a nickname of Chewy - he was in the gulf and part of a group wanting to refuse the anthrax vaccine, implicated as one of the causes of gulf war illness. I interviewed him on my radio program. He was Vietnamese and was promised citizenship if he served in the navy over there. He was threatened that he would not get citizenship. He was kicked out, of course, but actually had a healthy life after that, did end up with an honorable discharge and citizenship and is glad to this day that he stood up for his life and health.

It is not fair that you should be given all these experimental drugs (and it has happened for decades that you are experimented on) under the excuse that you need it to be ready for whatever happens.

A Nation of Sheep - Defending Freedom needs to start here in the US

Defending Freedom needs to start here in the US because it is nearly gone here..............here is where young people can be most effective........

Please take 5 minutes to view the speech of Judge Andrew P. Napolitano. He is a 59-year-old former New Jersey Superior Court Judge and is a graduate of Princeton University and Notre Dame Law School . At Princeton he was a founding member of the Concerned Alumni of Princeton along with Justice Samuel Alito. Judge Napolitano is the youngest life-tenured Superior Court judge in the history of the State of New Jersey..

He has also authored, A Nation of Sheep, which frankly discusses how the federal government has circumvented the Constitution and is systematically dismantling the rights and freedoms that are the foundation of American democracy. In this book, he challenges Americans to recognize that they are being led down a very dangerous path and that the cost of following without challenge is the loss of the basic freedoms that facilitate our pursuit of happiness and that define us as a nation. Judge Napolitano reminds readers what America is all about, that the purpose of government is to protect freedom, and freedom is the ability to follow your own free will and not the will of government bureaucrats. He asks the simple question, which are YOU, a sheep or a wolf? Do you blindly follow behind where you are led, or do you challenge the government at every pass, forcing it to make decisions that will protect our freedoms?

This is about AMERICAN FREEDOM, THE CONSTITUTION and GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS.
Please pass this on...
