Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

Excellent. True to the spirit and intent of this thread, but I will always defer to The Dread Bacon Lord™️ for the last judgment.

Saturday morning we had 8 members and spouses/SOs of our sponsor mid alumni family, all in town for reunions, at the house for a B&B (Bagels & Bacon, okay, we admit, also known as Bagelex) breakfast. Two couples stayed with us (they booked early for 10th reunion). Several dozen bagels and 5 pounds of oven-baked Wright’s bacon, the house sun-dried tomato cream cheese, assorted other cream cheeses, jams, etc. Fresh fruit. The sea stories went non-stop, as well as memories of sponsor memories at the house.

One of the current sponsor 1/C (early select nuke) stopped by to get sponsor sibling mentoring from those further down the path in their warfare community. The desire to share reliable gouge and help a younger sponsor family member was awesome to behold. DH and I just grinned at each other and enjoyed. Seniors mentored us. We mentored juniors. Now we watch them mentor theirs. All is as it should be, despite generational differences.

PSA: If you have a Capriotti’s in your area and use the app to accrue rewards, it’s free bacon on any sub through 10/31. Some restrictions apply.

Okay, I forayed into Capriotti’s yesterday to test-drive this coupon before it expired.

A trainee was working the register. The manager was not present, whom I know by sight. I tactically exploited the situation by stating calmly I wanted to order two subs with the free bacon app offer, a cheesesteak for DH and a BLT for me. Continuing in a “this is perfectly normal” tone, I then asked if they could just put his bacon on my sandwich, and they did. It was an impressive BLT. I kindly donated some bacon to DH for his cheesesteak, as something to try. Now, he is a born Philadelphian, likes his cheesesteaks classic wit’ grilled onions, cheese, hots (no mayo, lettuce, tomato, etc.). He did allow the bacon could well be an approved local variation going forward.

The coupon expires 10/31. I may have to reattack.

Okay, I went looking for a nice Argentinian Malbec from Mendoza. What's that got to do with Bacon?

Nothing.

BUT...while looking, I ran across this...and I am so conflicted.

I'm a Southern Boy and 'Shine is sacred...but so again is Bacon...

Learned to do something like this on BBQ competition weekends. We called them Fatties. Some kind of cheese stuffed into some kind of sausage and wrapped in bacon. SOOOOOOO GOOD!!

Bacon ‘Shine - official beverage of the Bacon Nation?

Maple bacon moonshine sounds awful. I was at the Marine Corps Marathon in D.C. this past Sunday and at the end of the race there was a tent that had 5-gallon coolers with spigots on them so you could help yourself to a cup of maple syrup, after running 26.2 miles.

Disgusting.

I thought I’d share what I plan on having tomorrow night at a favorite “local gem” place in Annapolis. They make excellent wood-fired oven pizzas, plus have one of those menus you have to read through 3 times, because so many things look good. It’s in an old house in the Eastport area.

And yes, I squeezed in another round of free bacon. We got a large cheesesteak and split it.
