Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

Does show up indeed...at least on the SAF app.

I vote CAPT Bacon. Even properly rendered, those other fatty ones just aren’t right to me.

There is seriously a LOT of useful information here. Recipes and ideas to try!

Bacon Bits:

Q: What did bacon say to tomato?
A: Lettuce get together.

Q: Why didn't the drunk gangster find the Bacon Tree?
A: Because he walked into a Ham Bush!

Q: Which actor is now being quarantined for Swine Flu?
A: Kevin Bacon

Q: Whats the name of the movie about Bacon?
A1: Frankenswine
A2: Hamlet

Q: Why was the meat packer arrested?
A: For bringing home the bacon.

Q: What do you call a bacon wrapped dinosaur?
A: Jurrassic Pork.

Speaking of bacon....my father was in charge of usda federal meat inspector programs. His PhD in meat science. It’s in my DNA. Toured my share of meat packing facilities. For fun. Actually the biggest in the nation, and it was FASCINATING. So there’s a little (bacon) bit about me [emoji38]

First off, IM SORRY!!!

I couldn't help myself...Bacons piggly wiggly cousin.

I tried the Fazoli's Smoky Bacon Bread Sticks.
The verdict:

They were good, but they were loaded with cheese. I didn't expect all the cheese.
They would have been better with just enough cheese to make the crumbled bacon stick to them.
I have no idea what the crappy dipping sauce was made out of, but it was disgusting. I threw it in the trash.

Questions for general discussion:

Does bacon belong on pizza? If so, in what combinations?

I have fond memories of my tour in bella Napoli, and one of my favorite pizza or calzone combos coming out of that pizza oven was ricotta, mozzarella (the real stuff from the local water buffalos), mushrooms (funghi) and pancetta (Italian bacon cousin), a bit of fresh garlic, some fresh herbs in the ricotta. No tomato sauce in that particular combo.

I realized pizza and bacon combos are not something I eat here in USA, probably because I’m wary of the bacon (too salty, too flabby fatty, too maple-sweet to work with tomato), so am open to coaching on this potential avenue of bacon usage.

Of course bacon belongs on pizza! My wife's favorite combo is chicken, artichokes and bacon in some creamy garlic sauce from Papa Murphy's. I'm not an artichoke fan and I'm not supposed to eat them because the have a fair amount of vitamin K.... but she eats my Cowboy pizza so I eat her
s as we alternate to keep it fair. Sometimes we get half and half. I think I've has a pizza with chicken, swiss cheese and bacon which was tasty. Of course a grilled cheese sandwich with swiss cheese and bacon is my poor man's alternative.

Bacon can easily take the place of pepperoni on pizza.
The important thing is to put everything you want (including cheese) on the pizza first.
Bacon goes on last (on top of everything else), so it's exposed to the heat and gets crunchy.

As a matter of fact, I have been making thin crust pizza dough at home lately with self-rising flour and plain Greek yogurt.
That's all you need. Self-rising flour and Greek yogurt.

You mix them in the right quantities to get the consistency you want, and Bob's your Uncle, you're done.

Drink bacon bloody Mary while making the dough, of course.

YES!! This is a Friday family staple before hush school football games at ours. Same pizza from Papa Murphy’s!!

Another HUGE favorite is An area gas stations Breakfast Pizza....the choice is bacon or sausage. We alternate but bacon is the BEST. I’m told there is a good frozen pizza brand available, but our local gas stations is to die for. Not always for breakfast, either.

Yes, bacon goes on pizza. I believe it can literally go on anything....

@THParent

Interesting, not a yeast dough - so, a crispy or chewy texture? Flatbread-ish?

I can cheerfully eat charred thin Napolitano crusts, thin crust American, hearty thick Sicilian slabs. I do not care for stuffed pizza crusts, because I admit to thinking if a crust is decent, it doesn’t need distractions on it or in it.
