Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

I haven't bought bacon in a store since we started buying a hog each year. Sure it's hundreds and hundreds of dollars just for bacon, but it's worth it even before you consider the free hams and chops and roasts and whatnot. (I think they make the brats out of the whatnot.)

Rising Bacon Prices

I continue to be ashamed and embarrassed by my native state. I love to visit — and DD does AROTC at a well-regarded state school out there — but glad I don’t live under its unreasonable laws.

In the very first post of this thread, I posted this photo:

That was more than 2 years ago (August 30, 2019) and I even mentioned that it was "about $11" for the 20 oz. bag at either place (Costco or Sam's).

I just want to say that I bought four (4) bags yesterday (because I usually put 3 of them in the freezer and it makes an even 5 pounds and I like that), and they were $8.88 each.

THE PRICE OF BACON IS LOWER THAN IT WAS TWO YEARS AGO !

Direct news from the Bacon Front, see below pic. We have USNA sponsor family alumni in town for reunions coming for pre-game/tailgater breakfast on Saturday morning. Yes, there will be Naval Bagels, the house-made sun dried tomato cream cheese, Amish Market Fat Pills, fresh fruit, slow cooker oatmeal with dried fruits and other dishes and goodies, but of course a massive platter of bacon.

How’s this for a data point, me arranging the Wright’s 3 lb pack/$13.33 in the chill case and taking a photo at the Ft. Meade Commissary, never mind the sideways looks I was getting - nothing is more important than capturing a current data point on the Bacon Front.

I personally think all fast food should come with bacon and there should be a "bacon delete" option that you have to specifically accept to get your order without bacon.
When you take orders and accidently hit the burger with bacon button instead of regular (no bacon) you apologize and start to fix it but the customer talks over you to leave it. AlWAYS 😃

What’s an Amish Market Fat Pill??

I am curious about this one as well !

Fat Pill. Clearly Marines don’t eat them, while it’s widely known as a staple of the Navy diet.

Fat Pills can be:
A donut
A brownie
A cupcake
A pastry
A sticky bun
A slice of cheesecake
A piece of fudge
A candy bar
Any unit of sugar and fat, which can contribute its caloric abundance to the places on your body it is most drawn to.

Got it? I’ll go to the Amish Market, where Fat Pills of every kind abound. The sticky buns were what I had in mind, or perhaps the banana chocolate chip bread. I’m fully capable of making lethal fat pills on my own (say, Pecan Pie Brownies), but when alumni return and recognize Naval Bagels and Amish Market treats, they know they are back in Naptown.

Bacon can never qualify as a Fat Pill. It’s its own special thing. (I completely blew Siri’s mind with a double its/it’s.)

These are good for any meal, in my book.
320 calories and quite filling.

I am taking refuge here, because I'm getting MURDERED on the stock market today.
