Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

No kidding. I recently saw this in left-over Alfredo sauce. Can you say "block-o-butter"?

@Heatherg21
Is that a Corgi pup I see in your avatar? Is he or she your dropped bacon vacuum attachment?

Not sure who started it but this FANTASTIC shirt is on sale for the low-low price of 21.95!! Doesn't get any more 'Merican than a BACON flag!

Yes, it is our daughter's dog. He is my granddog (she doesn't want to have kids). His name is Cheddar, he even has an instagram! In terms of bacon vacuum attachment, he is reliable. As are my 2 dogs, a mini rat terrier and a heeler mix. The heeler mix is especially carnivorous and has been known to take a perfectly cooked flank steak off of the island. The entire steak, gone in a flash.

This website is hilarious. I had the window open long enough to get the pop-up asking me to sign up for email, and select “Veteran,” “Patriot,” “Active” or “No, I like terrorists.”

“When you America too hard...” you get the Beer Guarantee.

I am howling at how they have taken a stereotype and created a brand and marketing approach that is consistent. The photos of the models are a hoot.

I feel like I need to go back and evaluate it from a more diverse point of view.

My wife threw a girlie party yesterday so I got out of Dodge and watched Terminator: Dark Fate in Jacksonville, NC. It's a great movie and I highly recommend it. I like going to the theater in Jacksonville because there are always young Marines there and it warms my heart. And speaking of warming my heart, I got home to some leftover Little Smokies, wrapped in bacon and sprinkled with brown sugar before throwing them in the oven on a cookie sheet. Yum...

So apparently Halloween-inspired meat loaf is a thing. Here we have Zombie Meatloaf and Feet Loaf (clearly, the Feet Loaf is missing bacon):

Those are onion "toenails" and onion-slice "bones"

I am beginning to be concerned about the things we are finding on the internet and the uncharted Bacon Frontier.

Well, a lot of those posts were mine, so...

7,000 views, though!

I'm hoping the thread goes where no man has gone before... in the context of bacon that is.

New recipe, 16 oz. of refrigerated shredded potatoes, 2 eggs, chives, onions, crumbled BACON or it's cousin Ham, cheese, spices and any other leftover accessory you want. Generously spray waffle iron with pam or melted butter. Place mixture (well stirred) into waffle iron, healthy amount. Close iron and cook until crispy and very dark brown (mine took 10 minutes). Cool on a wire rack. Serve with fried or poached egg for either late night snack or breakfast. DH new fave.

And here I was just contemplating Maple Bacon Cupcakes.

Are the potatoes something I can find in a refrigerated area or freezer case at the store? Not a product I have used, though now that I think about it, I may have seen it in the Trader Joe’s freezer case with other veg. Any issue with doing scratch potato prep? Skin on? Press out excess moisture?

Simply Potatoes are my favorite. In the refrigerated section, with pie crusts, biscuits, and stuff.

Ah, ok, got it. I’m a mom-trained fresh veg person, but am not averse to a proven quality frozen or reefer option. I think the only canned veg I have are tomato products and pumpkin purée. I do use the bag of frozen pearl onions, because peeling those suckers is a royal pain. Handy to dump those in a slow cooker braise.

I have got to mention bacon - ah, I’m currently testing a cheddar bacon mini corn muffin bite for Thanksgiving this year. My mind just now went to muffin cups, well-greased, figuring out how to make a crunchy brown potato nest with an interesting filling involving bacon. Or maybe bacon will be in the crust.

Ok, must get back to work now.

Not bacon, but....

You need to pick up some fresh pie pumpkins and use that to make your pumpkin specialties. Sure makes a difference in my pies and you can prep the pumpkin days ahead of time.

EDIT: I read an article that said the majority of the canned puree is actually butternut squash.

Oddly, that raw pumpkin goop makes my hands itchy and hivey. I can eat it cooked, and handle the canned product. Pumpkin-carving Brownie Scout session was the first inkling.
