Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

Food Network feed dropped this in my inbox today, when the Super Bowl menu is already locked and loaded.

I think these have merit and will probably try them out in the near future.

These look yummy for sure. I just don't see the need for a baking sheet on top of the pizza stone. Why not just use the stone? I may have to get some dough made and resting. Dad is here visiting, doing his favorite for dinner. Homemade meatballs, long simmering San Marzano sauce and homemade pasta. The house smells good already. Oh, and having leftover green beans with bacon and garlic for lunch.

I was missing my mom this morning (she's 93 and in a retirement community with very limited access due to COVID-19 protocols). So I got up bright and early this morning and made pan-fried potatoes, large serving of thick-cut bacon, and fried eggs - all in the same cast iron pan she used for years to prepare farmhouse breakfasts for her family. Nothing fancy, but I have to admit - it was the best breakfast I've had in ages. Thanks, mom.

Suffering from raw radish boredom, and thinking roasting them might be interesting, I used a Google search string of “roasted radishes and bacon.”

Et voilà!

I found the below. With DH’s birthday coming up in March, I am starting to think about birthday dinner, since we are still only doing the occasional curbside. He does like radishes. Has anyone prepared them like this? I also found a recipe for creamy roasted radish soup (whee! Immersion blender time!) with bacon garnish. This looks like a nice side for a Prime grade NY strip.

I consider myself somewhat of a foodie and a junkie of most decent cooking shows. I have never heard of roasted radishes or a soup made with them. I am intrigued.

Never tried roasted radishes but I say cut them into little heart shapes and serve it for Valentines day.

It has come to my attention that bacon forum members aren't going to the front of the line to get the vaccine.
Bacon bribes will be going out next week to all healthcare providers to try to help the situation - but be advised - keeping blood serum bacon levels up to the recommended daily amount is your best defense against the Covid-19 threat.

Remember that Covid-19 will be eradicated by bacon and freedom.

It’s snowing, wintry mixing and sleeting here in Naptown area. It’s time for a twisted breakfast for dinner plan later tonight

Cheddar waffles. Sautéed apples. Mounds of bacon.

Or it might be a cheddar-bacon-Apple waffle. With more apples and bacon on the side.

YUM. We are repurposing a brisket we smoked Sunday. Last night was brisket stroganoff and a salad. Tonight, smoked brisket grilled cheese with bacon and gouda, and homemade cream of potato soup, with cheese, green onions, and BACON crumbled on top. So looking forward to it.

It sucks in Texas right now. Send bacon!
Enter “flying bacon” in Google, filter for Images, enjoy.

On a serious note, I know the infrastructure is buckling there. Best wishes for a return of power, services, normal temps and fast de-icing.

I have an ugly glob of solidified bacon grease in a small glass dish. It just doesn’t look good on my counter.

Got me to thinking 🤨 what do bacon forum people do? Do y’all save it? Toss? And if you save, how? In something cute? My grandma had a jar. Practical, but ugly. Dare I say gross...

If I know I can use it in the coming days I may save some, but if there's not a specific meal in mind out it goes.

We put it in a mason jar in the fridge. It usually comes out to add a little fat to veggies while they're cooking, my wife being a southern farm girl and all.
