Important matters concerning the existence of Humanity - BACON

Tonight’s house pasta:
Paglia e Fieno (“straw and hay”), house style

Half spinach, half regular egg fettuccine
Italian panna di cucina (cooking cream, rather like crême fraiche)
Sauteéed chunks of chicken breast
Smashed roasted garlic cloves (a lot)
A few judicious spoonfuls of homemade pesto to add color and flavor
Massive handfuls of cooked and crumbled Wright’s bacon to add at table
A big chunk of authentic Parmigiana, fed into my ancient Mouli cheese shredder from bella Napoli.

Paglia e Fieno Alla Panna Con Pollo, Pesto e Wright’s!

Cibo Italiano? Let my imagination run… I think a bottle of Est! Est!! Est!! would go nicely with your meal. I will toss in the figs wrapped with prosciutto as the Bacon Lord has previously decreed prosciutto acceptable on this thread. Neapolitan rum babà or tiramisu for dessert? A nice limoncello after that would be perfetto. DW got a limoncello recipe from an Italian Officer’s nonna who was from Amalfi. Heavenly. Buon appetito a Voi!

Grazie mille - I was thinking we would waddle to the nearest gelateria for some limone. Something lemon after a rich plate like this is almost mandatory.

We had a few glasses of an Orvieto Classico.

And ooh - figs with prosciutto. Have you ever had them with a bit of mascarpone tucked in as well? Had those at a neighbor’s summer house on Ischia.

We just returned from DH’s birthday dinner at Grapes Wine Bar in Annapolis, a favorite of ours. I broke my no-phones-at table rule to share with you the Apple Wedge Salad with romaine, blue cheese, crisp tart thin slices of Granny Smith apples, lightly touched with apple vinaigrette - and copious bits of crisp bacon tucked away everywhere. And yes, the Belgian frites are one of my favorite vegetable servings there. DH had the roasted golden beet salad with piped whipped Gorgonzola cream. We followed this with a platter of Wagyu sliders and shared rum raisin bread pudding. They also have my favorite rosé Champagne by the glass there.

New bacon thing - see pic below. I have decided to make hot German-style potato salad tonight with grilled chicken. I am going to try this in the dressing for the potato salad, and of course add copious crumbled bacon.

Mmmm... German Potato Salad. Mmmmmm
It was very good. I eliminated the sugar in the dressing, after having tasted the vinegar, which had sufficient sweetness from date juice/syrup/extract. I used the small bite-size Yukon Gold potatoes. The bacon’s salt, crunch and smokiness was the perfect foil to the potato and the hot dressing.

We went from planning meal-for-two lamb chops on the grill to a sit-down for 10 for Easter lunch coming up.

Though I normally do everything from scratch, I am outsourcing one of the desserts (I grew up in the South, it’s always plural options for big family meals) to Dangerously Delicious Pies, see menu link below for both sweet and savory pies, and screenshot of Elvis Pie - with BACON.

Warning. Food porn.

I had breakfast for dinner last night outside Quantico MCB and to my abject horror, they were OUT OF BACON.
It was not a good breakfast.

😱😱😱😱😱😱😵‍💫

Did you speak to the manager?

Or suffer heroically in silence?

My son finished up TBS with a graduation ceremony at MCB Quantico on Friday, so we had breakfast for dinner at The Silver Diner in Woodbridge, Virginia (Potomac Mills). The bacon was great! He had the double bacon with his Lumberjack breakfast and I had four (4) lovely crispy strips with my omelette. Mrs. THParent is a vegetarian , so she had the "Apple Pie Pancakes" which I must say, looked pretty fabulous.
