My son was awarded a Type 7 AFROTC scholarship but has been accepted to several out of state Universities. It was recommended to him by his interviewer to reach out and ask to be considered for in state tuition at these schools. Does anyone know the best way to go about doing this? Should he reach out to the ROTC Commander first or contact the admission office. Any help would be appreciated.

Why not ask...then you will know.

Depending on your state and where they want to go we have something here (common market) I think or something similar where if there is a major not offered anywhere in your state you can go elsewhere on in-state tuition.

That's a school decision. He should reach out to admissions or the bursar's office. It wouldn't hurt to check with the unit just to ask if it ever happens. I would not expect the unit to go to bat for him as I'm sure many future cadets there got a type 7 scholarship. Just one man's thoughts.
