Hello.

My son was dq’ed and the matter sent in for waiver. He had two other items outside of this that DODMERB asked for additional documentation on . These were settled and cleared up. He had one episode of contact dermatitis on his hands from using caustic soap at the restaurant he works at.
Was seen by derm who prescribed him a tube of cloinetasol cream to clear it up.
This was a single incident , directly attached to the soap. They stopped using the soap at the restaurant after this and his rash cleared up from this and the cream. Things improved and never returned 3 days later. This happened one time only.
They never asked for supporting documentation on this. Instead he was medically disqualified and I was told it needed to go to waiver because this is a “chronic or recurring” issue. And chronic and recurrent issues need waivers. I emailed the DODMeRB contact who handles his file and he blew me off saying things are black and white for them and this requires waiver becaise its “recurrent or chronic “. This happens ONE TIME. And I’m pretty sure his naval warfare pin as an officer won’t me dish washer of the mess. Anyhow, I have dermatology writing a letter stating this is a single occurrence and directly attributable to the soap at the restaurant . I’m sure the Russians won’t torture him and cover him in dish soap. My question is , how can I
Go above the sergeant at dodmerb and where can I send this letter ? It shouldn’t even be at a waiver stage. He’s waitlisted for the naval academy and without supporting documentation I’m sure he won’t get a waiver. Again, I’d prefer it not even have to go
Waiver because he should be cleared.
Someone please help here.
