Breakfast in Highland falls on R-Day. There is McDonald's and a Dunkin Donuts. The best breakfast spot is Andy's Restaurant. Don't be surprised if your New Cadet is too nervous to eat much!
The 5 Star - Icelander, you make me nervous. The 5 Star has two locations but you must check in at the main location off post near the Visitor's Center if you stay on post. Many taxi's are not allowed on post so you will probably have to walk in.
From the 5 Star on post there won't be a bus - you might be able to catch a ride from other New Cadets and their families or walk in. Just pass Thayer gate is Buffalo Soldier field parking lot and you can catch a shuttle to Ike hall from there.
From the 5 Star on post, it's across from the cemetary and you don't need a bus, it's an easy walk to Ike Hall.
Getting a 5 star reservation - you can't reserve a room until 2 weeks out because they are reserved first for soldiers who are PCSing to post. You may not be able to get a reservation as they book up quickly during busy periods.
You should contact your Regional Commander with your travel plans. If you run into a snag travel wise, they should know about it. You defintely don't want to show up late. When using USMA arranged travel, you don't need to worry about being delayed, if your flight is delayed or canceled they will help you out.
