Interesting Read about your U.S. Coast Guard

Raise the debt ceiling when we're in the highest debt in US history; cut military budgets in the middle of two wars. Got an A in US Government and have an A Honors Economic Theory, but I still don't get this logic.

Not all military budgets are getting cut. The entire U.S. Marine Corps budget is greater than the Dept. of Homeland Security. When I see where some of that money goes to, I have a good deal of trouble feeling bad for DoD services. Looking at the third article I posted, that should be a disturbing trend.

Two years ago, the USCGC DALLAS was the first U.S. asset to deliver aid to the Republic of Georgia. They had multiple casualties, including fires, and the only TWO 378' were sent to dry dock.

USCGC ACHUSHNET served in WWII, and is still serving in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Look at the average age of ships....41 years for the Coast Guard, 14 years for the Navy.

Before reading the articles you posted, I had been reading an article about ROTC scholarship cuts; that was where my slight bemusement was coming from. I know not all military funds are being cut; it just seems to me that the FY2011 budget and projected uses of funds concerning legislation on or coming to the table is not correctly apportioned as a whole.
