Hi everyone. I want to apply to USAFA for 2023, but I am currently attending high school in Canada. I am an American citizen, but I have no residency in the US. In terms of getting nominations, does anyone have any advice on who to contact and when? It is the only part of the application process I'm having trouble figuring out.

I was in the same boat since I'm currently living overseas as well and applied for the class of 2026. After contacting admissions they told me to just use my last place of residence in the states, and I was able to get a nomination through there. I would contact admissions first, though since every case is different

don’t forget you have Vice President nomination that you can apply for

Here are some links to pore through; skim past the military members. It’s how U.S. citizens living out of the country determine a domicile. If you have a domicile, you can figure out what District Rep and Senators you can apply to for nominations. The earlier the better, so the staffers know they will have to set up a video interview for you for any interviews.

VP nom, of course.

To keep things clear, international cadets and midshipmen are foreign nationals who attend as part of their country’s agreement with the U.S. They will obtain a degree but not a commission in the U.S. armed forces.

You, as a U.S. citizen, apply the same way other U.S. citizens do. It’s just a bit more logistically challenging.

@dav1y just went though the process this year from outside the U.S.. You two should connect up via PM. I think you need 1 more post.

As @Capt MJ said, I did just go through the process from overseas! I'd love to help out and answer any questions you might have; feel free to shoot me a PM anytime. I also did go through the process while changing my permanent address from CA to AZ, so that definitely complicated things a lot too. Whatever it is, I can probably help :)

That would be great thank you! I actually don’t know how to pm on here, do you have any social media I could message you a couple quick questions on?

You now have 5 posts and have been a member longer than a week. Give the system time to refresh, and you should see a little envelope eventually appear.
