Hi.
I am an international candidate and it is the first time that an appointment has been given to my country. I am already military in my country. I received my appointment two weeks ago and I look for information about the academy. Are the phones banned during the first year? What do I have to bring with me while traveling to the United States and how long will I spend before returning to my country for vacation?

Yassim95, the only question I can answer for you concerns phones...Your phone will be secured during BCT, except for a couple of times you will be allowed to make a phone call home. After BCT (A-Day), your phone will be returned to you to keep. Depending on squadron, there may be some restrictions as to when it can be used and how.

I am sure someone else can chime in but at USNA for International Cadets they arrive a few days early to be processed in and get acclimated. My guess would be USAFA does the same. There should be a liaison in admissions who handles your stuff and is your POC. I am sure you will have additional paperwork to handle such as host nation agreements, your agreements with your country for service, visa, passport, etc requirements. Also they will provide a packing list and things like that. I am sure that liaison will be in touch very quickly. At USNA, most Intl Mids went home at Christmas break and Summer time. Many times they would travel together to new cities on other breaks or tag along with other Mids for holidays. Since the SAs mirror each other in many ways and have roughly the same schedules, I am guessing that is about the same. Best of luck on your journey!
