Received two DQs and status was changed to "Under Waiver Review" but then the active DQ section code disappeared and status was changed back to "Under DoDMERB Review". Does anyone know if this means they are still reviewing my exam? I was under the impression that they reviewed the exam all at once and would receive all correspondences regarding DQs at one time. Tried to contact help desk but they just send the same response every time telling me to read the one correspondence letter I got.

The waiver was officially requested by the SA on September 21. He was never asked for AMI. He just waited for almost five months. So this week I called the SA that requested the waiver to see what the status was. That seemed to get things moving. I think the DoDMERB site going down around the time the waiver was requested and no AMI requested, probably got him stalled in the process. From what others were posting, it seemed reasonable for us to call the SA and ask if the waiver had been reviewed yet.

Had the exact same situation happen to me. Check mark popped up in my USNA portal. I’ve read this means a FINAL decision has been made on my requested waiver, but not sure if it’s a “granted” or “denied “decision. I guess I just have to wait for the dodmerb site to update.

Do your best to focus on other things.

If you think about it, they don’t have to address all DQs at once. If a waiver is pursued, then all it takes is 1 DQ to not be found waiverable, and there would be no need to review the others. If a waiver is granted for 1, then another DQ is then examined, and so on, I would assume.

You're right I should focus on other things. I have been letting my DODMERB status stress me out too much. With that being said, I am back "Under Waiver Review". It's just frustrating because I am expecting more DQs but not seeing them all at this time. I just wish they posted all of them at once, but they most likely don't for reasons like you said.

how did it turn out?

My status for NROTC went from "Under Waiver Review" to "Awaiting Receipt of Remedial" and back to "Under Waiver Review." Does this indicate anything? I never got an email from NROTC or DODMERB requesting remedials.

Mine just switched back to that as well… any update on your situation?

Not sure but I’d try calling DODMERB to see. Can’t hurt to ask.

Status this morning is still “under waiver review” however dodmerb added a bunch of remedial codes. To add on, if the WA are asking for Medical AMIs, is it okay to jump from physician to physician to collect different parts of the remedial?

I as well got the same thing, luckily only one remedial request for me. However, I would say it is safe to say if it switches to "Awaiting Receipt of Remedial" that you will probably have AMI's to take care of. They want me to consult a whole orthopedic surgeon just because of runner's knee that's been resolved non-surgically since 4 months ago. :eek3: I hope I can get in with one quick enough so that the waiver can be processed ASAP, just seems a bit excessive to me.

Im in the same boat as you. The initial Optometrist exam landed me with a visual acuity not correctable to 20/20, after consulting with 2 other optometrists they deemed that I was correctable to 20/20. I later sent this data to DoDMERB (Not entirely sure if the WA saw the new information), but in the end, I have to retake the whole eye exam including a corneal topography.

Don’t take my word for it but from talking to the upperclassmen in my program who have gone through the process it doesn’t matter. They say your goal should just be getting the remedial done as fast as possible.

Respectfully, you have to look beyond your relatively recent injury. It’s not excessive. They need to make sure you meet all standards and are fit to ascend and serve. Either outright, or via a deeper medical dive/potential SA waiver. They can’t just ‘take your word for it’.

It’s also important bc (beyond medically fit to serve) the taxpayers are potentially spending a lot of money on you, should you receive an appointment.

It’s hard to see the big picture sometimes when we are in the trenches of an appointment. But for all readers, know there is a tried and true reason for the process. It has to play out. While it may seem excessive to you, the reasonings are often beyond what make sense at the user level. But have a purpose for the greater good.

Good luck to you! You aren’t out of the mix yet, and that’s a good thing!!

"Runners Knee" is sometimes diagnosed as PFPS (Patella Femoral Pain Syndrome), which is a "soft tissue" type of problem. PFPS can be overcome with proper stretching, and ramping back up running, or special shoes or inserts to correct anything off balance. Time is critical, as is your current status (have you returned to unrestricted pain free running?). This is a common "runners" issue and the ascension programs are very aware of it as well as treatment for it and waivers are often given. Good Luck and follow your doctors orders and don't overdo in the beginning.

The reason I said it’s excessive is because I’m currently in the military with no duty limitations. I have also already done physical therapy for it and was cleared by them and my military doctor.

Thanks for the information. I am back to running after completing physical therapy and being cleared. I also ran a 5:18 on the CFA and have scored excellent ratings on my in service PFA. As long as the orthopedic surgeon clears me I think I will be good.
