Hello,
Will the USCGA notify me of when I will have an interview? I applied RD because my SAT’s were below the average of the EA applicants. Any advice is appreciated!

I received a notification of an interview less than a week after submitting and then emailed my interviewer. I received a call a few days later and we arranged a time and place.

I received an email about an interview a couple weeks after I submitted my application, and then about 2 weeks after, my interviewer emailed/called me.

I believe there are a number of factors that will determine whether you are asked to interview and when that will be.

These are:-
  • How much contact you have with USCGA, including your admissions partner and admissions officer
  • When you submitted your application
  • How competitive you are
My understanding is that not all applicants will be asked to interview. This may be because they feel an interview is not required because you are an exceptional candidate, they have already had contact with you on a number of occasions so feel that an interview is not required or that you are not a good candidate and therefore an interview is not required.

This is only my opinion but is based on what I have heard at various events and using my own logic.

Agree. Interview is not a good thing or necessarily a bad thing. It depends on the unique circumstances. No interview for an outstanding candidate probably means that no further information was required to make a decision. One thing is certain. If offered an interview, do your best! If not offered, don't worry about it . . . it could be a good thing!
