When I have the admissions interview, what is the best way to dress up? Is a black suit/pants, dress shoes and a tie too much if you are having the interview at your school or should nice wingtip shoes, khakis and a nice button down shirt also work? I don't want to overdress and kill it

You can never overdress for an admissions interview. If you have the suit wear it. However, I would say that if you do not have one, I would not feel it necessary to go out and buy one. My DS bought a new suit his senior year, however, he had many occasions to wear it throughout his entire senior year.

Remember this is a job interview for your next 9 (or more) years. I want to see someone who took the time to look good. That said, I had to do my last interview in a Dunkin Donuts, so a suit an tie would have been very out of place.

AuxNoob, my DD did her interview outside at a Starbucks in Arizona and she was told to dress for a job interview. She wore a business suit and I'm sure she looked out of place with the people in shorts and flip flops, but her goal was to knock the interview out of the park. So, candidates, remember that the only one who's opinion matters at Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks is your ALO, BGO or admissions officer (AO). My advice, dress for a job interview unless your ALO/BGO/AO tells you otherwise. A little discomfort to land the "job for your next 9 years" is a small price to pay. Good luck.
