When am I supposed to have my liaison interview? It says on my portal that it is missing, but it is not in one of those boxes that need to be checked or anything. Also, my liason officer cannot actually hold my interview, because he is my JROTC instructor and there is a point of conflict with that.

There should be a name listed for Evaluator ALO. Reach out to that person ASAP. Are you complete except for that?

No, I started this application in late October because I originally did not have the ACT scores, but now I do. I need to do the CFA which I have planned on taking on December 20th. I also just finished writing my essays. Also, I need to send my passport to USAFA. I just checked my portal again and the only Liaison officer listed is my JROTC instructor.

Ok, at some point after you finish more of your app, an “Evaluator” will appear, under where you see “Liaison Officer” now in your portal...see pic below. My guess is you need to finish more of your app before that name is there. They will reach out to you to coordinate a Skype interview, but it looks good for you to reach out to them first, ie don’t wait.

Thank you so much. I do not have that yet, but I will have most of my application complete by Sunday and hopefully, the name pops up.

I am still practicing for the CFA and I plan on taking on December 20th, but I do not think I will be fully ready then. My application is due on January 15th. Will that be too late then, or could I do my interview later after the due date?

The later you push your CFA, the less flexibility you allow yourself for illness, injury, bad weather, family emergency, unavailability of test administrator. Every year we see posts from panicked applicants who got themselves in a jam. Commit yourself to the 20th. Work hard on daily CFA prep, focus on what you absolutely have to do before then: finish this semester strong, eat/sleep, work on other college plans. Everything else is want to do or nice to do, including social, gaming, etc. If you want this, lock down and focus, visualize success. And, in a moment of reflection, think about when you decided to apply, when you learned about the CFA requirement, how you approached CFA prep and why it is you feel unprepared a few weeks away near the hard stop of the application cycle.

You can do this. Presumably your body < 20 years of mileage, you’ve been participating in sports or some level of physical activity. Push yourself.

There are YouTube videos on the CFA focusing on bb throw technique, shuttle turns, etc. There are Stew Smith’s workouts. He’s a former Navy SEAL, USNA grad and USNA staff officer, now a fitness professional.

Let us know how it goes.

Others may have other thoughts, but I vote for getting on with it and kicking yourself into high gear.

Thank you and I appreciate that. I just struggle with doing the pull-ups/flexed arm hang. I try every day and now I can at least bend my elbows 90 degrees for a pullup, but I want to be able to do that one pull-up for my CFA.

Believe in yourself; you can get there. That first pull-up can seem like a mountain. It is a fantastic feeling to do one and beat the mountain. Find your inner grit and channel that desire to do the pull-up.

Thanks! I have been doing reverse pull-ups and I think I have a better chance of doing a pull-up than holding the flexed-arm hang. So I am trying and hopefully I can get it done!

Your Evaluator ALO’s (not mentor ALO) contact information will appear when ALL other forms have been submitted. I recommended reaching out to them ASAP when it does appear as it shows initiative. Best of luck!

So just an update. I checked my AFA portal this morning and it said that I meet the deadline now. I still have to complete the CFA, but I am having the interview with my evaluator on Monday!

You must complete every part of the application, and then on your portal a name should be listed in the same area where your ALO is listed. You should see "Evaluator" and that will be the person that will conduct your liaison interview.

I was able to do my interview without completing my CFA.

So, I realized I forgot to reply to this thread, but I ended up failing my CFA because of my pull-ups. I was really close, but I could not get my chin above the bar. I will be retaking it in hopes of passing. I believe I passed everything else, but my situps were pretty low as well. But an admissions officer said I only failed the pull-up portion.
