I am wondering if it is important to do the ROTC scholarship interview at the school which is one of your top choices? The local school is much more convienent and will entail considerable less travel. Is it frowned upon (hurt your chances at a scholarship) not to do the interview at the school(s) you really want to attend? The local school will be on the list, but will definately be at the bottom.

Thanks.

Performing the interview at one of your top choices has its benefits, but all in all it really does not effect your chances.

son did AROTC interview at one ofhis choice (we were visiting his brother) and has met with each scholarship officer om his list...very expensive and a lot of travel.

AFROTC scholarship interview was with local school and was told that he will submit an excellent evaluation. He has since then visited the schools on his list.

NROTC interview is with local rep...no choice on the matter.

It doesn't seem as if having the interview with your school will matter for the scholarship. However, it is a great idea to start a dialogue with the schools on your list. They will like to get to know you and try to woo you over to their side. Makes the kids feel great when they've got units wanting them.

I did my AROTC interview at a school I am not even applying to. The officer I interviewed with DID NOT CARE. I have spoken with the heads of the ROTC programs at my top choice schools, and they seemed to agree that conducting the interview locally was the logical thing to do.
