Hi, if you interview with a senator for one service academy but get an appointment for a different one that you didn't interview for (same senator), does that mean that you didn't get the original appointment that you interviewed for? Just confused but very happy.

Nomination not appointment.

If you interview for one academy but receive a nomination for another - this generally means your MOC did not have room for you on the slate that was your first choice but wanted to offer you a nomination to another academy where there was room. This is actually quite common.

If you have not yet applied to the academy for which you are nominated and you wish to do so then you need to begin that process, asap.

Congratulations!

Many MOCs ask candidates to rank the SAs to which they are applying in terms of preference. Some may ask the question in an interview (i.e., "If we can't give you a nom to USAFA, would you be willing to accept a nom for USMA?") That way, as JAM states, if there isn't room on the slate of your first choice, you may well get a nom for your second or third choice.

It is rare for you to be given a nom for a SA for which you have not expressed any interest (verbal or written) b/c the MOC could well be "wasting" that nom.

Some even call the candidate to confirm they will accept the nom prior to awarding it. :thumb:

Now that's an interview DS did not mind having!!!

Now he has to wait for all the paperwork and slate submissions to clear. Since he has an LOA for that school, hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later, but we are not entirely clear on that part.
