I have found myself on this forum working in the background to help my daughter in her SA goal. I enlisted in the early Clinton era and ended up after three years in the fleet as an alternate for several different USN officer programs. I wasn’t a motivated highschool student but changed my tune as an E1 and followed a 1986 Top Gun inspired path to USNA. That led to flying jets, testing airplanes and roughly 5 trips though govt and commercial astronaut selections. Alas…I’m still earthbound but am content with my contributions to the USN, aerospace development and proud to have raised a daughter smarter, stronger and hopefully more humble. Several years back I went through the preliminary BGO qualification process and am considering it again as I would like to give back more now that I’m living on the economy and a pension rather than carving out free time from the active duty life.
