I know similar threads have been posted here, but my current situation is slightly different. My current medical status is marked as “incomplete”, because during my survey and medical exam I noted currently having orthodontic work. The work is purely cosmetic, however, after sending the required follow up form to my orthodontist for completion I found that I will hav invisalign up until September of 2020 and a retainer after and until September of 2021. Does this disqualify me medically? Should I stop my current orthodontist and resume once at the academy? What should I do?

I emailed Larry Mullen a week ago but recieved no response, anyone else I should contact?

The ALO will not know the answer to this. This is a DODMERB question. You need to call the DODMERB phone number they gave you when your medical was scheduled. Speak with their counselors and explain what's going on. And follow-up with all your paperwork related to this.

They are the ones that know and will make the determination on your status.

Thank you, will do!

Also, talk with your orthodontist as well. Explaining the timeline of an SA appointment process. Maybe you already did. But your Ortho May be able to adjust treatment to a different timeline (I have no idea but it’s happened before with others) if they know what your working towards. Absent any other reason, treatment plans are often status quo. But with other goals/requirements a treatment plan can perhaps be tweaked to meet those requirements.

I wrote this post in the waiting room prior to my appointment and we were able to adjust the timeline to end in May of 2020, I am just waiting to hear back from an advisor from DoDMERB before I submit this form officially to ensure this timeline is acceptable. Thanks for the advice!
