Hello all,

I recently received a letter in the mail and an e-mail inviting me to start my application to West Point. It said something to the effect of:

"Only a few are invited to apply
to the United States Military Academy
at West Point. You are one. Start your application now"

I can only assume it is because of my test scores. My question is: does this give me higher priority over anyone else applying?

Thanks in advance for the help

So you checked the box on the SAT/PSAT didn't you? ;)

Myself and lots of my friends got the same letter, I'm already applying so it didn't mean much to me. The letter doesn't do anything for you, but I'm assuming you did well on your Test of choice, that will help the application.

It does not give you higher priority, it simply means your test scores are high enough to be considered competitive

Thanks for the help! I am not currently considering applying to West Point, however I am honored to have been invited to apply by them

It is also too late to apply for this year's class. MOC have alredy conducted their NOM interviews and once you miss their application deadline, the opportunity for this year is gone.

Do you still need to apply if you applied for SLE?
Yes, the application process is much more in-depth than the SLE application. The SLE application didn't even require a medical evaluation or physical fitness test.

I don't think they are looking at just test scores. I scored 30+ in every ACT section including a 35 math and English but I have not received a letter like that.

Hmmm... I could have sworn that they said the SLE application would fulfill the candidate application process?!?! All of the questions also look the same.

The candidate questionnaire is step one whether or not you apply to SLE. That is what admissions uses to evaluate candidates for selection to SLE (should they put in that request) and/or whether they open up the second portion or their application.

You can only open one application, so if you try to open a second candidate questionnaire, you'll be routed back into your original or you will have entered a fake/false social security number...

So @punisherz1911 if you have submitted your SLE application, you've already done the CQ and are just waiting for the second step kit (main application) that is more in depth to open up this summer.
