I was awarded a 4 year AROTC scholarship but have serious concerns that I am not going to get into any colleges I applied to. Is it possible to defer the scholarship I have been awarded for a year???

Call the schools ROTC department. I am almost 100% sure I would not have gotten into Texas A&M if I didn't receive a scholarship. I called the Army ROTC department on campus they said they would take care of it 4 days later I get accepted

I have had positive results with contacting the admissions departments and letting them know an applicant has an ROTC scholarship. If you applied to all Ivy League schools, then the scholarship won't matter. Other schools, having an ROTC scholarship can help with admissions.

Are you sure you are just nervous, because school decisions are still pending? If you do not get in anywhere, there are many schools that will still accept application very late. You will not be the first to not get accepted anywhere. Your school guidance can help you find a school, hopefully one with AROTC.

My DD was awarded a 3 Year Scholarship in May of last year after not completing her application. Cadet Command gets the list of TWE candidates from West Point. After she received the notice, there where three or four schools reach out to her asking her to bring her ROTC scholarship to them. PM me if you want me to try and figure out who they were.

The first question you should ask is why you're not getting into these schools. Are you sure you can handle the work? If yes, then follow the advice of Iwant, Mohawk, and USMA.

If there is a school that you would absolutely attend if admitted, then contact their ROTC unit and their admissions department and tell them you have cash money in hand. They love that.

BTW Six years ago DS both deferred and transferred an AROTC scholarship. He had a legitimate reason to defer, but doing both was made possible by good communication between the admissions department and the school's ROTC unit.

Best of luck!

Thanks for your replies. I am still waiting on a couple of dream schools (not Ivies!!!) and have contacted their ROTC departments - not heard any decisions as yet. I will keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks
