With the new cutback on HSSP scholarships in favor of ICSP scholarships, there are very few HSSP scholarships compared to what it used to be. I've heard numbers as low as only 500 HSSP scholarships for next year. If this is true and if we assume each Commander at each of the 145 detachments has and uses their commander's leadership scholarship, it will mean that 30% of all HSSP scholarships will be CLS offers. This seems counter-intuitive to the new approach of the HSSP which makes me question whether or not the AFROTC HSSP CLS will still be a thing.
