Is there a 2nd validation of sports/activities, like there are for grades?

I finished the WP app and received an appointment a short while back (yay!) and I know they require 7th and 8th semester transcripts, but other than the information we reported on our portal is there any validation of the activities upon entrance into West Point? As in, if I were to have done a sport sophomore and junior year, would I be penalized for not doing it in the spring of senior year?

My son waffled with this last year. He was a shot put/discus thrower on his track team. It was his 4th year being on varsity. His throwing coach was very much against the training he was doing for Beast due to the running. It was an uncomfortable season as he was butting heads on a weekly basis about his running and training for non throwing events. He almost dropped the sport prior to the season for this but wanted one last hurrah with his HS friends. He emailed his RC before the season to inquire about dropping the sport. It was a non issue for him but he did complete the season. Just wasn’t as fun due to the dissension with the training. Email your RC. He doesn’t regret it as he kicked the butt of Beast.

You have an appointment. Prepare to enter the Army. Maintain your grades...stay out of trouble...get in shape for Beast Barracks.

Enjoy your family and friends and smile. Life is good.

What is with these crazy coaches?! My sons swim coach has been a nightmare!!! It’s not he’s going to swim in college—-or even make it past sectionals. He’s a captain, but he’s not the best swimmer on the team by any measure. She was so angry that he had to sit out of practice before the medical exam and said “I want a phone number. I want them to explain to me why this has to be done now. And I want them to explain why your commitment to me is less important than your commitment to them.” I told him to tell her to call 1800 go army! She’s bananas!

So there's no check that they do? My training will benefit me far more than continuing the sports.
