I got a call from the admissions office saying that in order to stay competitive I need to take more science and math courses because my college transcript had only business/english courses that do not help my application. so I enrolled at my local community college for this upcoming semester and I'm taking an engineering course, a pre-calc course, a chem course and a physics course.
Do you think I can still get into the Academy even if I get As in those classes? Are the appointments already determined by December?

Will I need to stay at the CC for more than one semester?

The fact that they called you is a good thing. Since you have already enrolled in these classed and if you do well it will be a plus. The appointments are not all wrapped up by December. Once you receive a nomination, all the other things will be pulled together and they will make a determination. My daughters was in your shoes last year and is now a basic cadet. Her ALO said she should take classes in the spring semester also...it shows she is not just blowing it off. (She only took 2) When she received her appointment in March, it was conditional upon them receiving her final transcript in May. Are your SAT scores in line with what they are looking for? She continued taking her SAT's every month until her math score higher...she finally got either 680 or 690. He verbal was already high enough. If your SAT's aren't in line with the USAFA's expectations, studying and retaking them might not be a bad idea. Just keep putting your best forward and educate yourself as much as possible in what it takes to succeed. It's not a bad idea to have a plan B also...Shoot for the best...but be prepared just in case! I wish you the best!

I agree with PSU, you are on their radar. They are saying hint, hint change your fall schedule and laod it with math/science.

Think of it this way...they don't call all of the 9K+ pcqs, they saw something in your application, the ball is now in your court!

Pima is dead on accurate!!

This is a VERY LOUD hint. "They" saw something they liked...

AFDreamer: what will you do? It seems like AFA sees something in you that is what they want.

If that really is your dream, grab it and go! Load up on all the science and math you can handle, and get a tutor if you need one.

that's going to really help too come time (when you get an appointment) that you have to take validation tests. i just found out that THREE CHEMISTRY BOOKS SUCK TO CARRY.

oh just to add- this is really more to say that you have the opportunity to get ahead of the game, you're not behind.

Holy crap, just one chem book and laptop running from Sijan to Fairchild will make my arm ache and body sweaty.

Getting the call is great. Acting on the hint is almost more important. You'd be surprised at the number of students who won't get around to working something extra into their schedule.
Now do well and Congrats!

ohhh yeahh... and carrying all of the books from the store back to our rooms, that was a blast, too!

..the point of this conversation here is- try to validate some classes so you don't have to carry around huge books!
