Jarhead's Quarantine

Kind sir, to what do you refer to as old? Just kidding. My laugh lines prove your point as do my creaking knees. My half century birthday next spring is a milestone I am embracing.

Last cycle while navigating our DS through the process, and me new to the forum, I surely became one of Jarheads biggest fans. I am not invested and hopeful for his future success.
Half-century birthday...oh, so I shouldn't ask you what you thought of the Apollo 11 landings that you watched on TV live...oh well...

Kids...

Sigh. I am choosing to just roll with being almost 50. 60 will come soon enough. And I appreciate the rubbing.

Wish I had that Apollo memory. But I do recall my small town chem teacher applying for the space shuttle mission for the teacher in space. He was also a neighbor and friend and his kids and I grew up riding ponies and horses and generally raising heck and swimming in water troughs. The day of the launch we wheeled the projector into the classroom. When the shuttle exploded, the room imploded in a silence I can still feel and hear. Christa McAauliffe had won the contest. We all wept alongside him. It is one of the more profound moments of my less than fifty year old life.

Inquiring minds want to know. I'm guessing he is a free man and too busy to bother with us! 😄
What's that phrase? Out of the frying pan into the fire?

Yeah, I came right out of quarantine and managed to catch covid.

So now I'm back IN quarantine. :)

Sorry for my absence haha. For a while I couldn't really do much. I'd just kinda fall asleep if my body got too tired from standing/sitting. I'm feeling better tho!!!

Sorry to hear that. Hoping for speedy recovery.

Hope you are on the mend. Thanks for keeping your forum friends in the loop that is your exciting life. ;)

I was worried about that. You okay?! Is it really going around there? DS is quarantined too...some friends have friends who got tested. While awaiting the results, they quarantined the lot of them. He has no symptoms, and he feels their sore throat/sniffles were due to change of weather. We’ll find out soon enough....and hopefully he’ll get to go home bc they’re negative. Hope YOU are back on your feet soon!

Update, in case you’re curious. The students w “symptoms” are all negative, so everyone gets to move back to their dorms!

Oh man, I need to come back here more often ;)

I’ve stopped randomly passing out, and have no more symptoms! I’ll be back on campus Saturday for the game, and I couldn’t be happier to head back to Oxford.

Stay safe y’all! Hotty Toddy!

I am reviving this thread for 2 reasons. One, how are you doing @Jarhead713? And second, I just finished a book our USNA Plebe recommended. A firstie recommended it to him. It may well be my favorite book, The Gates of Fire. Absolutely stellar novel.
