JAX Sea trials cancelled

I’m a Mid and I just got back from NWPT 1. All S/T itierations outside of NWPT 1/2 have been cancelled. Sea Trials is no longer a mandatory program and is not pass/fail. I’d be surprised if S/T survives into 2019-2020.

+1 to @goirish1 . The traditional 2/c cruise was shadowing an enlisted sailor and learning about their role. The 1/c is shadowing a junior officer and learning about their role and responsibilities. These few weeks are just enough to expose the mid to these positions and are generally scheduled in the warfare community the mid is most interested in. DS did not do Sea Trials last year, but from what he heard and shared, as well as a couple YouTube videos, it looks like it was designed as a basic exposure to some damage control, firefighting, leadership exercises and was supposed to induce stress into the training. @beepybeetle may be right about the program not surviving if it's been all but cancelled in its second year. I've been wondering if this is due to shifting priorities due to the change in command at NSTC.

My session (3) got cancelled. Did they give you guys any information on why there have been so many cancellations? Also how are you so sure it won’t be pass/fail anymore? I’ve been looking for info for ages but haven’t found anything from NSTC or other sources.
