Having my coffee, watching Mysteries At The Museum, and up pops a Navy story. About sharks and WW 2. And a woman named Julia McWilliams who joined the OSS and helped develop a recipe for a shark deterrent.

Who knew?? Not me!

The episode showed how she was actually involved in creating the ‘smell,’ and the bars the (then) men attached to their life vests. It also talked about how it was a significant morale booster for the (then) men.

She eventually moved to France. Married an ambassador named Childs, developed an affinity for French cuisine and the rest is
History!

And lest we forget, Julie was immortalized on Saturday Night Live by Dan Ackroyd. Alas, Dan's version of Julia suffered a nasty kitchen knife cut.
