My junior year math teacher has strong moral beliefs against the US Navy that prevent him from writing a letter of recommendation for me. When I was at Summer Seminar I told an admissions officer this, and he told me to use my sophomore year teacher. I took a summer math class in between my sophomore and junior years. The teacher that taught me this is also now my senior year teacher. When I told the admissions officer this while at Summer Seminar, he then told me to use that teacher.
That teacher, the one that taught me for a summer class as well as my current class, has since written and submitted a letter of recommendation. The letter has been in the system for 2 weeks, but a few days ago I received an email from an admissions worker that told me his letter is invalid. I was told that I need to have a letter from my junior year teacher. When I explained that he refuses to write one, I was told that I must wait until 2 months of my senior year have passed before my current teacher can write me a second letter, which they will then accept.
This teacher has known me for 4 years now, already taught me a class, and has previously coached me in athletics as well.
Is this new information true? Do I have to wait 2 months? How much will not having my application in for 2 months hurt me?
