Hi everyone! I know questions such as the one I’m about to ask get asked a lot, but I was wondering what affect an award I received at Summer Seminar will have on my chances of an appointment. I received the Iron Man award while at Summer Seminar and does something like that play into my chances of getting an appointment? Or is that just a fancy piece of paper they give you.

Since summer seminar doesn't play a factor in your application, I wouldn't think an award at summer seminar would either. My DS did not get into summer seminar but will be a member of the 2024 class.

It won’t hurt your application. Will it help, probably not. If it does, great. Bottom line, it won’t get you into USNA, it might slightly help.

Maybe some brownie points..the fact that you showed competitiveness and set yourself apart from others. At the same time it may not mean much if the other parts of your application are not competitive.
