Just got into Summer Seminar

I’ve not heard about my application yet—is that a guaranteed “no”? I went to a CVW earlier this year, and I wonder if that hurt my chances.
If you don't get in, do not panic! Our son didn't get into summer seminar but did receive an appointment. CVW, Stem, and NASS are all ways the academy can introduce themselves to applicants. They try to expose as many kids as possible. Don't give up the ship!

Thank you—I will keep my eye out! “I have not yet begun to fight!”

My DD was given a TWE for NASS in April and she had gone to 2 summer sports camps over the previous 2 years and was a Naval Sea Cadet. That was disappointing because it could have counted as an advanced training credit for USNSCC..She went sailing across the Great Lakes in a schooner instead for her advanced training. She did go to a CVW invite this past October. Among Sea Cadets the talk is we found the more exposure to USNA, the less likely you will be asked to NASS.
Yes, we heard that an important aspect of SS is recruiting students who have the potential to be a good match but are not all in or need exposure to what it is really all about. Sounds like your DD is already completely all in. Our DS was accepted to SS but then never had a CVW. <shrug> My impression is that a CVW is more indicative of Admissions seeing a match than SS.

I cannot recall if I submitted my NASS application. I remember filling it out but unsure if I hit submit. Is there an admissions portal I could check? If I am unsure can I submit another application or would I be penalized?

search your email. USNA. If you submitted, you will have a confirmation email from admissions. I am not sure if the deadline has passed for this year. DD that is now a plebe applied after visiting USNA on a spring break trip when she was a junior in high school. I forget when she was accepted to Summer Seminar, but I believe it was late April. Good Luck!

Do you remember when he applied? I haven't heard back yet
I applied pretty late on the first day applications opened and still haven’t heard back. Hopefully we hear back soon (I got my acceptance in AFASS earlier today in the first batch despite applying right before the deadline so I’m starting to get a little nervous). Good luck to you!

I cleared out my entire email a while back. I’m going to call the admissions officer tomorrow. You can still apply for NASS but I do not want to apply twice :/ so that’s why I’m going to call them. Thank you!

I wondered about this too. Son has a sister alum, did summer STEM going into freshman year and just did CVW. Haven’t heard anything, but would almost think they would think he was a lock and move on to someone with no exposure. Who knows though. I’m sure they have their system. What day did apps open and are they releasing weekly?

The fee is due March 4th otherwise it says you would lose your spot. When requesting the change, it said not to pay the fee. Suggestions?
yes we are just waiting...assuming she will hear before the 4th. she said you pay the fee online so it will be simple and quick.

yesterday my daughter received an email stating that they received her request and will consider it basically, but also don't get your hopes up - it said the timeline should be quick and she will get an email stating she got her request or not - if she does not get the change she can keep her original spot.

No. They hold spots through the close of the application period (March 31st). After the first wave of notification went out they got an unusually high number of people wanting to switch which they are working on now. The early admits were suppose to commit by March 4th, but that is pushed back for people requesting a switch. As they get caught up and people decline the offer or miss the deadline they will continue to release spots so you are definitely still in the running. Out of all the academy summer programs, NASS has some of the most friendly and helpful people. Don't be afraid to call or email them with questions. Best of luck to everyone.
