Just received Letter of Assurance!

@bluejayburrito I think that you might be mistaken in regards to receiving a LOA. An interview is required to receive a letter of assurance, and currently there are no letters of assurance that have been sent out. Letters of Assurance are also not sent via email and are sent via physical mail to your address listed in your candidate file. I just wanted to clarify for you and anyone else reading so that there is no misunderstanding.
Ah, well then I guess the only thing I have left to receive one is my interview since I’ve done everything else in the required fields for a LOA. I have essays, my CFA, and two SOEs left. I was told by simply completing my portal that I should get an LOA though, and I will obviously have to complete it if I want an appointment. That came from a former cadet so I’m not sure the exact truth.

I recieved an email titled “Letter of Assurance” but upon further reading it stated that I am competitive and need to complete more of the application before I would be put in the LOA pool. Email came for me the same day of the OP post, but it could have been coincidence.

That's an interesting email. Almost more like an LOE? For those who got similar emails, when did you start your application (i.e., how long after starting app did you get the email?). If you got a similar email, could you also share some stats?

Thank you.

My DS started his application when the portal opened back in June. He received an email from both his FFR and RC in the past two weeks.

hi OP:
Was there any portal update for you regarding this LOA? I guess the LOA shows up in portal also and lists the conditions that need to be fulfilled.

It came via email. It's not an LOA... an email stating that my DS is a competitive applicant and being considered for an LOA and encouraging him to complete application ASAP.

Any stats that you can share and leadership EC, state? only if you can

thanks OP, for once you got everybody excited here. Based on what I have read here is that the 1st Admissions board meets in Aug end/sept begn. This may change this year as the portal opened 2 months early ( from Aug to June).

Yes, I’ve realized now that it was saying I’m being considered for one. I had to reread the email. I apologize for misleading anyone.
It’s early days yet. Settle into the marathon and slow your sprinter’s heart.

If an email arrived in my phone mail box and all I saw was “Letter of Assurance” in the subject line, my mind might take a few mighty leaps forward too.

Attention to detail is a mundane, yet critical skill for anyone in the military. This is a great time to cultivate it.

I think it’s safe to say, technically, every applicant is considered for an LOA. These early communications are meant to encourage applicants with promising application elements early in the cycle to complete their applications. Keep in mind, too, the SA can use an LOA in whatever manner they choose, and for whatever reason, to assure a candidate they will receive an offer of appointment as long as they fulfill specified conditions. The recipient’s stats may not be the primary reason. Stats could even be so-so. It’s the whole person.

Keep working at your application and your alternate plans, and keep in mind the majority of SA cadets and midshipmen did not receive an LOA.
