so i recieved another nomination today from my congressman so now i have 2 one from my senator and one from my congressman. Does having 2 nominations make your chances better for an appointment.

Yes, it gives the academy greater flexibility in giving you an appointment.

As I understand it, each member of Congress (Senators and Representatives), has a given number of slots at the academy(I've heard 5 for Representatives, not sure for Senators), and for each open slot there, they can nominate 10 candidates.

So, having more than one congressional nomination would increase your chances for an appointment by making you eligible for more than one of the pools of slots that each member of Congress has for candidates, in addition to making you eligible for an appointment off the National Waiting List.

Does that help any?

Each MOC can have up to 5 at each academy at any given time. Some years would yield two openings.

You should feel very fortunate to get two nominations. In some states, senators and congressmen get together and make sure nominations do not overlap due to the high volume of very competitive candidates.

Each MOC has 5 available positions for each academy. Let's say the academy really wants 2 people from your congressional district. If you both have noms from your rep and one or both of you has a nom from a senator, then you can both be appointed and charged different MOC's slates. More nominations = more slots at the academy you are competitive for.
