Does anyone have any first-hand knowledge of the competitiveness for nominations to USNA in the state of Kansas (4th district specifically)?

Wait a couple of months and let us know. I would say everyone on here is waiting for the list of nominees from his/her district.

I would say that the mods need to move this to the nomination forum on this site.

The reason why is that there will be candidates that apply to 3 SAs. USNA may not be their first choice. Thus, you want to see also the candidates that apply 1st choice to other SAs that require a nomination.

Think Big picture!

Jordan5551,
All I can tell you is that last year, USNA had slightly more candidates vying for nominations from the Senators than USMA or USAFA. Many candidates listed 2 or 3 SAs. And it appears, that at least last year, the two Senators talked. My DS is from 3rd district so I don't know about the competition with your Congressman. Good luck!

At Senator Moran's interviews this past Saturday, there were 21 applicants on the USNA list. He currently has 2 vacancies and will give 2 principal noms with a list of competitive alternates for each vacancy. There were 35 applicants on the USAFA list for 1 vacancy, and about 13 or so on the USMA list. I'm not sure the resumes of all the appicants, but those are the numbers.

While I don't doubt your information since it sounds like you were there, those numbers seem low compared to last year. Also, remember many candidates apply to more than one SA, so someone who listed USAFA as #1 on their list may have listed USNA as #2, and might be considered for that nom also/instead (which might increase your numbers above).

As an example, last year my DS listed USNA #1 and USMA #2 for Moran's application. At Moran's interviews, my DS was asked three times if he would accept an appointment to USMA (he said yes). (Not sure if they had inside info from USMA admissions, but it seemed odd at the time.) He received a nom to USMA. Fast forward to our congressman's nom interviews. Again, my DS was asked if he would accept an appointment to USMA. Again, he answered yes -- this time he was given a nom to USNA.

I was at the event and can confirm the numbers above. I can also add that there were appx 8 females and 12 candidates in a JROTC uniform of some type/

I have USNA as my first choice and was also asked if I would accept a nom to USMA and I said yes.

I appreciate everyone's input I would be class of 2020 but I'm sure these figures will be similar. My top two choices would be USNA and USAFA so it sounds like those two are just slightly more competitive based simply on numbers of applicants.

Has anyone in KS heard anything back from Senator Roberts' office yet? I'm sure the election last week impacted the time frame...

By the way kansaskid1, Congrats on your Nom! I saw it on another thread. My DS received one also.

I don't think recent elections affected time frames for MOC -- they still have until January to submit their slates, whether or not they were reelected. If Orman had won, it wouldn't have mattered -- Roberts' office already did the leg work for candidates.

We were told if a candidate lost, they would typically submit their slate early. From the coach recruiting our son.

Thank you ctkttww.
And congratulations to your son.

No word from Senator Roberts.

I have Lynn Jenkins on Saturday.

I wanted to add I was told the same thing if Sen Roberts lost. His office would submit the slate early.

Good luck to all

Anyone heard anything from Senator Roberts office yet? We have already heard back from Yoder's office (KS03) and those interviews were Nov. 15th. Getting antsy...

DD received congressional nom 4th district. Have not heard from sen Roberts yet.

Echoing the above posters about not yet hearing back from Senator Roberts. Is there any area in KS that's still conducting interviews with Sen. Roberts' committee? Perhaps that could be why we all have not heard back yet.

According to his website, the last interviews were held in Topeka on Oct 24th. I do know that the person handling noms is new to it this year. Sigh, I guess we will all wait together!

Yes my DS received the congressional nomination as well for the USAFA, very timely! And like everyone else, nothing from Senator Roberts' office yet. I know Early Action is basically just a yes, no, or keep waiting...but the waiting is going to be the end of us all

I received 2 noms from Lynn Jenkins KS 2
USMA
USAFA

I did not get a letter in the mail yet, but my portals were updated with the information.
