Daughter called this morning... she's ENGAGED! Both twins married in the past year and a half and one has a wingman (a baby, 5 months old), now my lil' baby girl! Still have eldest unwed; he asks: "Why should I give my money to a stranger?" so that's not likely to change soon.

I wonder how it felt for my parents, long since deceased, when we all came home and said things like, "Oh Mom! He's dreamy!" Were they as accomplished that the eye roll as I? As my children?

How do you parents deal, or not deal, with your children growing up, moving on, and the inevitable that happens to us as parents, then grandparents, then for some, great grandparents?

First off CONGRATS! I look at this time as the exciting times, kind of like seeing the fruits of your labor raising the little monsters for so long. I'm half way there with three out the house and another two still in high school. My wife on the other hand is starting to have a little empty nest syndrome as she look forward to the youngest leaving the house, but she's not over the edge about it.

Congrats!!!

And I hate my empty house!! It transforms back to a home when there are more than my wife in it!!

Push Hard, Press Forward

Congrats, but you are not old!

Congratulations:

Oldest DD Marine was married to a Marine aviator last October in Naval Academy chapel. Son (USNR Ensign), as a merchant marine engineer, just returned from cruise from Singapore through the MED. Youngest took driving test today in snow and passed. I still don't feel old but it is starting to catch up. When school closes and mom is home for the summer I start to feel old with all those required things to do. Feel young again in the fall when I have the day to myself. We are only as old as we feel.
