This is cool. Ask an average cadet (at least when I was there), hockey games, even though they're a club sport, is probably the most popular sport for cadets to go watch.

My wife and I flew to New York last year to watch DS play hockey against SUNY Martimine. The game was in Great Neck and the stands were packed with students from both schools. There were roving bands of students that were taunting the fans of the rival school. I have been around hockey for a long time and for the first time in my life I had an "uh-oh" feeling about being at a game and being in the stands. We could actually see police lights flashing in the parking lot. It was quite a scene and it was a very rough game (as can be expected). But, there were no fights (on the ice or in the stands) and it was a great experience for us. DS said that hockey routinely drew more fans than football. I only wish he was still at KP so we could have seen the game against the CGA. I will bet it was a great game.
JMC0759- My daughter and I were at that game as well (she was rooting on her former bf whom was on the KP team). You explain it very accurately. We laugh now because we learned a LOT of new "cheers" that we had never heard of before... but unfotunately I can't post them here... I'd have to wash my mouth out with soap if I repeated them! Apparently the year prior there WAS a huge fight which involved "hundreds" (or so they say) and that is why they had such good security... trying to avoid that situation again. It certainly was heated! Can't say I'd ever do it again, but it was "an experience" I'll always remember and laugh at! And Lynpar, you are following kp hocky? Girl, we must talk!
