My daughter's medical records were completely early this year, along with physicians' statements that she is fully recovered. She was awarded an early NROTC scholarship, It was revoked a month ago for medical. She received an appointment to USMMA in February, and that was revoked a week ago for medical. She has an application pending at USNA with two nominations. Are the waivers for USNA and NROTC the same authority, or are they reviewed separately? If they are, and the decisions will be the same, I'd like to let her know before the April 15th deadline. Thank You!

I am sure there are more qualified people than I am BUT the way we read our NROTC packet is that the waiver authority for the scholarship is BUMED. While the SA has their own waiver authorities they use. So to answer your question clearly is NO they are different and from what I have been explained, you could receive a waiver for one and not the other just based on what the needs are at the time from either the SA or individual NROTC (marine or navy routes)

FACT:

Q = Are the waivers for USNA and NROTC the same authority, or are they reviewed separately? If they are, and the decisions will be the same, I'd like to let her know before the April 15th deadline. Thank You!
A = No. The decisions may/may not be the same. Does she have an LOA for the USNA? If she does not, they will not be pursuing a medical waiver. If she does, they will :wiggle:

Mr Mullen,, so your last remark in asking about DD having “an LOA for USNA”...so at this late point in the game of being CPR, is that why you say they won’t be pursing a medical waiver? If I’m totally misunderstanding your comment could you please set me straight. Only reason asking is because I am still CPR with DoDMERB DQ (under waiver review status)

DoDMERB DQ (under waiver review status) = all documents that DoDMERB has, are transferred to the medical teams at the Academies. It does NOT mean that the Academy is considering a waiver, until the Admissions offices says to the medical team to review. Go to the DoDMERB website and read paragraphs 11-19

Yes, thank you Mr. Mullen; I have read that multiple times. Your comment leads me to believe that if I have not received an LOA as of today, then I should not expect to receive a waiver?

Not necessarily, which is why I asked the Director of Noms and Appointments. You'll know when she responds to us via the email I sent you :wiggle:

Gotcha! Thank you sir! I was just lil confused on your reasoning for asking DRobinson if her DD had an LOA from USNA by now. Just wanted clarification. Guess we will find out! Thanks again!

I never received an email when Mr. Mullen last responded on the forum. But I know Mr. Mullen will do what he says he will do. When/If they respond, I’m sure he will share.

For whomever still has a question above: send ME an email at DoDMERB_SAFORUMS@yahoo.com; complete name; last 4 SSN of the applicant; and your specific enumerated question(s). I don't need War & Peace :wiggle:
