Based on the application portal - my son's application is complete is complete other than the BGO interview and the transcript. My son has confirmed (with the admissions office) that the transcript is there - it just hasn't been processed yet. This has been the situation for about a month.

He and I are both a little concerned that there has been no communication from his BGO. But maybe that is normal? At what point should be concerned?

Thanks,

It’s normal. Give it a couple more weeks. And know that, but for a few who get non-MOC nominations, MOC nominations aren’t due until 1/31. There’s time and others are there with you.

If the application is complete and everything is in except the BGO Interview notes, USNA will send a "friendly reminder" notice to the BGO and light a fire under him or her.

Last year, my DS had a very similar issue. It was six (6) weeks later, and still no BGO interview notes uploaded. He sent an EMail to his Admissions Counselor because he was concerned not so much about the interview notes, but for the BGO. The BGO had told him in the interview that his wife was sick, (and the BGO himself was well into his 80's). It turned out that the BGO notes were uploaded by a different BGO and that BGO's name appeared in his portal for a couple of weeks, and then reverted back to the original BGO after my DS received his Offer of Appointment. We never did hear from the BGO again, even though we attempted to contact him.

If it has been a month (and your DS has already tried to get a hold of the BGO via telephone and EMail, to no avail), I would suggest that your DS send an EMail to his Admissions Counselor.

If your DS has not done so, I suggest he send an email to his BGO. He should introduce himself (I'm Joe Smith, Candidate #123456, from Happy Town High School). Indicate he has completed his application and would like to arrange for a BGO interview. He might provide some general times he's available (i.e., weeknights after 6 pm, the next two weekends, etc.).

If he's already done the above, suggest a gentle reminder email.

As noted, when USNA sees his record is complete without an interview, they will contact the Area Coordinator for the BGOs. The AC will then contact the BGO and encourage the interview to happen. Eventually, USNA will review the packet with or without the interview.

Very helpful as always gents. I will advise my son to sit tight for a few weeks with the suggestion that some kind of courtesy note around Veterans Day might be appropriate.
