Hi, I’m new here. I’ll start off saying that I have no family history connected to United States military. In fact, I’m a first generation American. I went through my first two years of high school not knowing what I wanted to do with my life, except that I wanted something different. I heard talk about the SA and the SMC around the country.

I was just wondering if it’s too late to be a competitive applicant.

I have a 3.2 unweighted GPA and a 4.5 weighted GPA. I’m working towards an eagle rank for the BSA and am awaiting a nomination to go to TX Boy’s State. I’m also involved in various martial arts in addition to varsity wrestling at my school. By next year, I will also be EMT certified through a selective course at my school. My class rank is top 30%. I’m in all AP/Pre-Ap and dual credit courses

I’ve always wanted to be a pilot in the Navy or Marines and get a MBA to become an entrepreneur eventually (I know they are totally different), but they’re both my dreams.

Any thoughts? Feedback ASAP would be greatly appreciated. Don’t hold back.

The only way to know if you're truly competitive is to apply. SAT scores are important. They look at the whole person in the application process so while one might be weak in some areas, they can make it up in others where they're strong. Apply to NROTC as a back up plan.
When attending USNA you decide (or are selected) for Marines long after starting the program.
For an NROTC application who have to decide before you apply. You cannot apply to both Navy and Marines.

Of course Marines care more about your Physical Fitness Test (PFT) than Navy does, which is not to say Navy doesn't care. You can look up the Marine PFT online which will only apply to an NROTC application. For the academy yo will take an entirely different test.

Good place to start is the official website for each SA. Your eventual service selection of a career depends on a lot of factors and important to know it is not like a civilian college where you study X to become Y. There is no guarantee you will become a pilot and a lot of other things have to happen for that to occur. Honestly, no one on here can do anything but guess at your chances of an appointment and there are aspects of your application (like BGO or NOM interviews we will never see). Also good if you/your family can visit any SA you are serious about to talk with those currently attending. It would be a mistake if the first time you see ANY college is the day you show up to start their program.

You're not EVEN CLOSE to being late. Now is a good time to start looking at how to apply for your congressional/senatorial nominations, reach out to your BGO, do well on your SAT, etc... I started in September and recently received an appointment. Just stay on top of everything and you'll be fine.

Thank you all for your responses. I just took the SAT and ASVAB this last week and am retesting the ACT later on (first attempt was a pretty weak 23) this time I’ll do a prep school for it.
