I received a nomination to Navy, Army, and Air Force, but hadn't taken the time to open up a file at West Point and Air Force until just recently (I foolishly was limiting myself to Navy). My question is, how long on average does it take to be upgraded from "Prospect" to "Candidate" on average? I realize the holiday break will probably prolong it, but is there a nice round estimate on waiting time?

^^^^^^ please excuse the bad sentence structure and redundancy.

I can't speak with any certainty for Air Force, but I know for West Point that categorization is based primarily on your SAT/ACT scores and/or official transcripts so it would take until they were ordered, received, and processed. As you correctly surmised, most likely right now nothing will happen until after they return from winter break. I'd probably recommend waiting at least a week after that, and then trying to get in touch with your counselor to confirm that those items were received, if the status hasn't changed by then.
