My son who is a JR just received his scores for the Sept 2011 act

English 34
Math 33
Reading 25
Science 26
writing plus English 32
writing 9

he is very upset. he worked hard all summer to improve that reading score but it didnt go up at all. he is only a jr but he was hoping to get into the sls and was worried that the reading and science scores will keep him out.

does anyone have any experience with this score discrepancy-how far off is he? he seems over in math and elglish but so far under in the other two.
 
He shouldn't worry about it. Just remind him to APPLY EARLY!!! I got into the SLS with a 24 composite. I believe I got a 24 in English, 26 in math, 23 reading, and a 21 in science BUT I turned in my scores an my application like the 2nd week the SLS portal opened. Also, make sure you send these scores to West Point so they can see them. It will definitely do him good if this test is an Official ACT test. Best of luck to your son.
 
I didn't study the first time i took the ACT and got a 30. When i retook it in september i studied for a good two weeks and then got a 27. I don't know maybe it was because I was just getting back to school but i thought the september ACT were harder
 
more score questions.

Is usma more concerned with just the English and Math Sections of the ACT or the whole composite?
