Hello all,

I am an applicant for the USAFA class of 2022 and have been deemed medically disqualified due to a mild case of amblyopia. I understand that USAFA initiates the waiver process, and it is up to them to make decisions regarding approval/disapproval. My question is, when is the latest I can hear back regarding whether I can get a waiver or not? I already have a nomination, and am wondering if the admissions board will even review my application until my status is changed (or not changed) to "medically qualified. "

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear this. I would try asking your admissions counselor listed in your portal. I thought I saw a thread on here of someone discussing esotropia. Is your vision corrected with glasses? The depth perception deficit may be the issue with disqualification.

Unfortunately, my distant vision in my left eye is only correctable to 20/25 and that same eye failed the depth perception exam. At least Army ROTC has approved my medical waiver, so I still have some route into the military. Thanks for the advice, I will try calling my admissions counselor tomorrow.

I am going to guess March as that is when they send out most of the acceptances. There are still appointments that trickle out later as some appointees will decline.

It just depends how competitive you are on your nomination slate. If you are ranked #1, it will move fast. If you are ranked #10 it will not move at all. No one can really tell you where you rank except admissions.
