Lawsuit: "waterboarding, sexual harassment...." at Virginia Military Institute

You know folks - this seems like the forum has been taken over by a couple of seriously misguided partisan alums of VMI and The Citadel who are right now engaged in some kind of a mudslinging tit for tat posting war. Here is the bottom line:
A. You can always find dirt to post and nobody really ever goes back to clean it up with the reality later on. The Reality is both VMI and the Citadel take a very hard line on hazing when they know about it. This will prove to be the case in this law suit as well.

B. Despite what it appears lately- the vast majority of VMI and Citadel alums believe they are kindred spirits in very similar schools and environments. In several locations we have had joint alumni events ( here in New England did one a couple years ago that included Norwich folks too). One of my personal operating principles is: whatever ribbing we give to each other internally- externally we stand united.
C. Trashing each other’s schools doesn’t boost the other- in fact it takes all SMCs down in the public perception. What kind of proud alum would engage in this repeated back and forth ? You hurt both the target and your own school- for those old enough the equivalent of a Davy Crockett missile ( basically a nuclear mortar with a blast and CEP greater than the range- which made it a pretty unpopular weapon system!)

Personally - Here is a plea to all of you- whether you are a fellow VMI alum or a Citadel alum: stop with the alumni bar room trashing of each other. This is a really difficult year for all schools and especially the SMCs whose value proposition is all about the Life experience. Both the Citadel and VMI are juggling safety of Cadets in the barracks with the real need to have them on post. You aren’t helping prospective cadets or the schools by this kind of back and forth trashing . In short - I believe that most alums would say - knock it off.

Can't disagree with Bruno. Keep in mind that this forum is watched very carefully for the reasons he mentions. There is room for cordial conversation and debate about an issue. There is no room for trashing an institution.

So - Kinnem and Bruno - finally you moderators get it. I never posted on another school unless to support - until you 2 moderators allowed Landy91 to continually post misleading and inaccurate headlines about The Citadel. I purposefully posted the series of articles above to get the message across to all that - the media is full of controversial articles with the intent to push a certain agenda - especially local news media looking for local interest to generate readership. It would be especially appreciated if those posting were actually knowledgeable about their subject - so let's all agree on that - OK?

But that isn’t the role of a member at this forum.

No one was specifically called out here, but we'll be happy to take action if things persist, including public comments about moderators and moderators emeritus. There is enough blame/error in judgment to go around. I suggest people merely adhere to the warnings given and go about their normal business.

All these threads and all this blather for this:

Thanks so much for the heads up that the media and some high profile Tweeters with huge followings like to stir things up with malintent.

Do you homers have any idea how this cat fight looks, or how it would look to enlisted folks and non-SMC Officers you might be serving with? Or to the aspirants who come to this forum looking for guidance? UNG, TAMU and Norwich must be loving this.

The only thing I've learned is if only 20% of what is alleged is true, I'm glad my DS commissioned through AROTC. He would have lasted about 15 min; not because of the quality of the education, but for the "customs and traditions". Everyone is hardwired differently.

If some 21 year old Patton wannabe told him to strip down and wrestle naked, he'd tell the p***k to go wrestle his own mother.

Wasn't this a word in the ROTC Crossword Puzzle?

Clue: Oh Dark Thirty nausea at FTX
Answer: Malintent

Anyone else take issue with this post or intent?
Doesn't seem quite right here folks...
