LEAD applicants

One question tman regarding the security clearance should I fill it out if I currently only hold a secret opposed to a ts?

I wouldn't think so? A Secret clearance doesn't have to be renewed for 10 years. I hold a TS, for example. I'll print out a copy of my JPAS and my original SF86 and just bring them both to the Academy, to be safe. I would just print out some sort of proof that you hold the Secret clearance... maybe a SURF report, for example.

Additionally, when I received my BFE and read through the Instructions to appointee booklet, both documents explicitly stated that prior service members are NOT required to submit another SF86.

Ya i was told not to worry about it, I hold a TS too. I was going to bring a copy of the AF86 not sure about the JPAS thing or the SURF... (I think I know what SURF your talking about, but It might be another SURF.... ahhh acronyms...) Basically was told to pack your bags like your going to BMT again.

Talk to your Unit Security Manager for a copy of your JPAS.

I ended up emailing prep admissions and got a few things cleared up.

1. Priors do not need to fill out direct deposit form
2. Priors do not need to fill out shot records however they need to ensure their medical records transfer to USAFA
3. Priors are not "Required" to bring their uniform items as they will be forced to buy new uniforms regardless "fee is included on finance sheet".
4. Priors are not required to fill out SF86 however it is recommended that you have a copy of the sf 86 available "electronic probably would be best"

But on the finance sheet I don't think it covers everyting, unless its the $400 something. But then again, what about our AFSC badges? They are required. I'll be danmed if I have to lose my intel badge, and hopefully my space wings, when I get there.

Depending on the requirements of your badges, you will keep them. Most badges are permanant once you hit your 3 level, but some badges require a 5 level. For instance, I had my wings as a 3 level, but lost them because I had not yet reached my 5 level.

So there's no need for me to buy new uniform items since we're getting them reissued? I was about a day away from investing in new blues shirts since the stripes ruin the old ones, and since their taking measurements with the paperwork they gave us, at least I will get good sizes instead of a parka sized top like at BMT ... And printing out the sf 86 would be a huge burden, so digital would be incredible.

I would say the prepschoolinproccesing email in our package, but I would double check and when you do put FOUO in your email title.

I was thinking a digital copy in my email drafts both personal/air force. that way I can access it on my phone etc

regardless badges are not a required item on your uniforms so you could do without but I'm with you I would prefer to wear mine

Bourdeau I would bring 1-2 Abus and and 1 blues uniform just in case but I was told that we will have to pay the same price as direct prep school canidates regardless

Under the "what to bring" section in the welcome package (which is what I'm bringing lol) it says under ABUs that functional badges are required. Your right, the AFI (36-2903) states it is optional, but I believe the wing (I guess in this case the AFA) can be more restrictive, just not more loose on the rule. Also separates the priors from the direct people.

True, damn I might have to get job badges sewn on some of my uniforms...

Ya I'm trying to get my space wings before I leave, and need to sow on my badge on my other ABUs. Haha I'd be surprised if anyone has all there done already.

I have my badge on all my ABUs, one badge for my blues, and one badge for my service jacket. My job only gives me one badge sadly, would kill for some wings :\

I lucked out and got the only place my AFSC can get them. Look at it this way, you'll get a chance for your jump wings! :)
