I am currently enlisted in the Air Force and would like to attend the Air Force Academy. I arrived at my first duty station 2 months ago and I plan on submitting my lead packet within 6 months. I'm wondering whether the lead program is realistic for me and what I can do to improve my chances of acceptance.

Here's where I'm at right now:
19 years old
2.2 high school GPA
SAT Verbal 660 Math 620
Passed 10 CLEP/DSST exams, 33 credits worth
Very close to maxing out the academy physical assessment
Decent amount of volunteer hours, 2-3 per week
Involved with Junior Enlisted Council
Far ahead of schedule with my CDCs

I realize that my GPA was extremely low and I'm hoping it can be overlooked if I am strong enough in other areas. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.

That GPA is going to hurt. If you don't get in this time, maybe take a few college classes on the side and ace them. Retake the SAT and then retake it again.

If they offer you a prep school slot, then absolutely take it.
