PrepSchool Appointment! I'm not going to complain could've made my package better. I'll take it. I'm still young. I'll see you guys there!! However advice to any airmen that reads this. Apply!
Looking forward to it as well! It'll be interesting mixing in with kids right out of high school and jrotc haha

I spoke too soon. DIRECT APPOINTMENT BABY. Got presented with the news and an award at a Comander's call today! I'll see you guys there!

Congratulations!!! Do you know when your portal will update?
Nope. I just checked today and so far there's no change. I'll keep everyone here posted on what happens.

Congrats, man!

IIRC, it took about three/four days for my portal to update.
Cool, cool. Thanks for the info.

Congratulations to all! Have been watching this forum since the weekend, and already feel like I know you guys. DS is still considered a candidate on the portal he is in the reserves. Anybody heard anything about reservists? Do TWEs come through email?

Anyone know why we need to arrive 3 days early?

Where are you getting that info? I've heard that it's a good idea to arrive in Colorado a few days early to acclimatize, but I haven't heard that this is an official requirement or that we have to report anywhere.

The reason that you need to be there a few days early is because you’re actually going to PCS from your current base, and you need to in process at USAFA

There's a packet you need to print out after accepting. It says priors arrive 15 July, everyone else arrives 18 July. This is USAFAPS-specific, I'm not sure about the USAFA requirements.

Are you just assuming that or is that official guidance? You technically separate upon admittance to USAFA, so I don't even know if the orders would reflect that or a PCS. I'm still waiting on mine. I have not heard anything about arriving early for in processing. From everything I've seen, you just show up with the rest of them.

That's not right... Day one of BCT is June 28th..

I'm looking at the packet right now haha, are you USAFA or USAFAPS?

USAFA, Direct Entry. I'm looking at my packet right now as well. On my USAFA Form O-28 is says I will arrive at the Academy between 0700 and 1000 on Thursday, 28 June.

I see now that you're USAFAPS. That makes sense.

Makes sense, your BCT might either be longer or classes start sooner. I'm going to the prep school first so I'll be down the hill from you guys.

Looking back in this thread I see that you got a direct entry appointment. Not sure about direct entry but I know that if you’re going to the prep school, your 10 months there are considered active duty on the reserve side for some reason. Being a reservist, you would simply PCS from your current base to USAFAPS in July. This info came from a former airman in my squadron currently at the prep school. Not sure about direct entry or those that are active duty, just speaking from the perspective of a weekend warrior here.

I've heard nothing about reservists unfortunately. I understand that notifications of acceptance are sent via email followed by a change of status on the portal. My assumption is that TWEs are handled in the same manner.

Thanks for your reply. He hasn't received an email and his status is still candidate. He isn't eligible for prep school either, gettin' too old. My family was stationed at the Academy for 5 years....you guys/gals have quite an adventure ahead of you. My husband worked at the Prep school as an AMT. Congrats on your appointment, I was cheering for you as you were so supportive of everyone else!

So can we all confirm that:

USAFA - Arrival June 28
USAFAPS - Arrival July 18

or not true?

Wolf, how is the out processing going to work out? Are you on active orders until you're about to leave. Are you required to use up all your days of leave? Are you getting an early sep and just going to go back home until school starts? Are you paying to get there or is TMO taking care of everything? I know it's a lot but let me know.

These are all questions that I would love to know the answer to as well lol. I really have no idea. Once I find out more I'll let you know.
Yeah I’m in the same boat man. They said congrats and I haven’t heard anything else and I still got a chunk of leave I gotta take before June haha. I heard USAFA contacts AFPC and they contact MPF and then your flight chiefs so on and so forth. But as we all know AFPC is a black hole so who k owns how long that takes. I was told to contact CSS as well to see if they had anything for me to start out processing. If you get more info please let me know. Also did you get direct or prep school? If you got direct you should pm me so we know each other before basic! Priories got to stick together man

@Jcush97 Have you gotten orders yet?
Not yet man I’m hoping soon. You?
