LEAD Program C/O 2023 Thread

Anyone else still waiting?
Yea I am still waiting on a response.
Same here
When did you guys submit your applications?
Like late january. I was told by my counselor that my application has been reviewed as of the 26th of february and that they are starting to look at airmen for prep this month.

They are now starting to do majority of prep school appointments? Oh thank lord, I was starting to loose hope. I wonder how some enlisted airmen found out so early about their prep appointment. I guess their package was A+ and ours are like a C-
Now I wouldn't downplay our packages that much it could have been because they got the application process done quicker as well. No one truly knows how it works.

Well, at least we're almost there. I believe it was a matter of how early they received our applications.

Does anyone have an idea on what the uniform arrangements will be like in the Prep School? I've heard rumors about C/O 2023 Cadets might be issued OCP's but I haven't heard anything about the P School. most priors still have ABU's and it wouldn't make much sense to give civies ABU's if we are going to switch to OCP's eventually. I'm sure they wouldn't want to have mixed uniforms in formation as well. Let me hear your thoughts!

I'm guessing that the Prep School will be wearing ABUs as USAFA class of 2023 was told to bring ABU boots.

Also, since priors have to bring their old uniforms, I would put my money on ABUs this year getting issued OCPs in our 4 degree year (Class of 2024)

The way it (allegedly) works is they have a board that meets twice a month starting late feb/early march. Each application will get reviewed until they hit some arbitrary quota for the day. If yours was reviewed but declined in lets say.... the early march board, it gets put back into the stack and re-reviewed in the late march board.

All that being said though. They don't start dealing out appointments for the prep until April (for the most part). I didn't find out about my appointment until April 17th last year. All this information was given to me by the person I interviewed over the phone with. Not sure how reliable that is.

Just got notified from my commander of a Prep School appointment! So they are still rolling in thankfully.
What were your stats if you don’t mind me asking
I'm currently at the prep. When I applied my application looked like this:

2.52 HS GPA
1250 SAT
CCAF
Below average on every element of the CFA. (literally gave me a "fat waiver")

I considered myself pretty close to the bottom of the barrel.

That being said, its gonna be different every year. Though for the current class, we only had like 50ish priors when there's supposed to be slots closer to 75.

Also, I didn't find out until mid April. Many don't find out until the end of April.

Just got the news from my commander. I’m going the Prep school!
That's great to hear! I saw that you submitted your application around the deadline also. Did you apply for direct entry then be considered for prep school, or prep school? Also, if you don't mind me asking, how was your application stats? Thank you!

I applied for direct then considered for Prep school. I had a 3.97 GPA. I took the SAT in high school a long time ago got 470 in reading, 540 in math, and 360 in writing. My class rank was 91 out of 392. I also met most of the averages for the physical assessment.

Alright so.....do we actually get legit orders? And does anyone know how that works? specifically looking for guard/reserve members ... I just got "travel orders" posted on the portal...and the last item in the appointee checklist says i'll be able to
"print out my official Authorization to Travel for in-processing" after everything else is complete....

but do real orders get posted to AROWS/vMPH/etc ?

I've seen/heard a few things on here...but I don't see anything in the booklet about actual orders

Unless things have changed this year, you will get a letter posted in the portal in mid-June indicating you have met all of the requirements necessary to in-process for Basic Cadet Training and that you are authorized to travel to USAFA for in-processing. This letter should also indicate which training squadron you are assigned to and list the date, time, and location that you need to report.

What I think @Konkolm is asking is since we are enlisted and will effectively separate from service for the next 4 years do we get actual separation orders? That are different from a letter saying we have been approved for travel to USAFA with our training squadron. From what I have seen and been told by priors currently at USAFA is that orders typically drop in mid-may giving you about a month and a half to out process and take any terminal leave.
